@parumleo He doesn’t say anything else, turns his attention back to the news. It’s only after a few minutes that he decides to try and strike up conversation again.
“Whatcha doing?”
@parumleo There’s a sigh, one that treads on relief, as he notes the calmness of his son’s tone. He can still see the tension pulling at his shoulders, but he takes this as a sign that he can relax a bit.
“Your mother and I haven’t decided yet.”
@parumleo Alexander is sitting on the couch, watching the news, when Pip walks in. He watches him turn on his laptop, waiting for him to say something. When he doesn’t, he returns his gaze to the TV.
There’s a heavy silence between them that is very uncomfortable.
@parumleo — bothering to turn it off.
He’s a little shaky as he picks up his own phone to call his wife, explain to her what had happened. She convinced him to talk to Pip later, when they’ve both calmed down.
@parumleo Alexander has more to say, more fight in him, but he lets his son go out of the door without another word uttered. He’s disappointed and quite frankly shocked at Philip’s behavior. It’s the first time he’s seen anything like this.
He puts the phone in his drawer without —
@parumleo “/Philip Hamilton/,” his tone is stern, brows furrowed together. There’s a hint of disbelief at the way his son is acting, but he doesn’t let it get to him.
Hand extended, he waits for the male to hand him over the phone. He isn’t changing his mind, not until he —
@parumleo The response throws him off guard. It’s not the first time Philip has raised his voice with him, not the first time he jumped into an argument without a second thought.
But right now, it’s different. There’s no point in arguing because Alexander will not budge. He’s made —
@parumleo — never been pure. To him, it looks like George is just messing around with Pip, not really having any proper feelings for him. And that makes his blood boil.
“You’re right. You won’t happen again,” he starts. “Because starting from today, you’re not allowed —
@parumleo — moment?” He doesn’t know what kind of answer Pip will give him, and he really doesn’t want to think about it too much.
He knows what George wants, he knows what his intentions are, and it makes sick to know that Pip would leave school just to satisfy George’s needs.
@parumleo “Why didn’t you?” Alex says, and the words come out so harsh and so bitter he has to take a few moments to calm himself. He doesn’t want to yell at his son, doesn’t want to set him into panic.
“What was so important that you had to be with George at that exact —
@parumleo It’s hearing it that makes his rage boil over. He knows he was with George, he’s not stupid or oblivious. But now that it’s out there, now that Pip has admitted to it, he can’t help the way his anger becomes visible.
“And you couldn’t wait until you finished school?” —
@parumleo There’s another sigh as his son admits to skipping school, and he lets himself cool down before responding. He can see the way Pip has tensed up; he doesn’t want to make him anxious, no matter how upset he might be.
“Why did you leave?” He asks, already knowing the answer.
@parumleo “I’m gonna give you,” he begins, his eyes finally shifting to where he had scribbled down what Philip’s teacher told him. He can tell he’s lying; every single movement, every single word gives him away.
He should know better than to lie to him at this point.
“One more chance —
