This is Kafkaesque from @gmcuk - they’re going to register PAs and AAs but not regulate as they don’t have the resources to do so

They control and sign off curricula for medical schools, doctor registration and GP / specialist registration - and are very particular and prescriptive about every aspect

Yet not applying the same rigour to PA or AA registration - just giving them a 7 digit number - as they do for doctors

PAs and AAs will honestly be able to say they are registered with the GMC. Looks strangely like the GMC will be enabling a criminal act against the 1983 Medical Act by helping people confuse non doctors with doctors

@JeremyVineOn5 @theJeremyVine Absurd misunderstanding of junior doctor roles here Jeremy. That doctor who you refer to as a "trainee" 4-5 years out of medical school could be covering ICU, A&E or doing a Caesarean section as the most senior doctor in their speciality overnight.
