I want to believe that the #NBA Africa Academy was more than a facility. There was something important about Africa’s best young talent developing here, on the continent, within the context they will ultimately help shape. Think SEED, think BAL, etc…
And if consolidation was the goal, I can’t help but wonder why #Rwanda wasn’t part of that conversation? The infrastructure is here, the basketball ecosystem is growing, and #Kigali has already proven it can bring the continent together.
Truly feels like a missed opportunity to keep building African basketball, in Africa.
I wish more adults showed kids how to tie their passions to a more stable career. Can’t make it to the NBA? Why not go into sports law, sports medicine, or sports/entertainment consulting?
