@IrishTimes Please don't forget that with 8 years rule to acquire citizenship, PhD researcher who have continued to work/serve for Ireland, will face 12 years waiting period for citizenship. Please make our residency be counted for citizenship. This hurts.

@DWHPankhurst Please support this. If PhD residence isn't counted as reckonable residence under the proposed 8-year rule, PhD researchers would face a minimum of 12 years in Ireland before citizenship. This makes NO sense. Please count PhD residence.
@rtenews Plz reconsider the impact on PhD researchers building their lives and careers in Ireland. Many of us have spent 5–8+ years here contributing to Irish research, universities and innovation, yet our PhD years don't count for citizenship. Please protect those already here.
Please don’t make PhD researchers start the citizenship clock after years already spent contributing to Ireland.
Count PhD residence. 🇮🇪

Otherwise, PhD researchers who have already spent 4–5+ years contributing to Ireland’s universities, research and innovation could face 12+ years before citizenship.
That simply does not make sense.
We came to Ireland to do research, build careers and contribute to the country.
