@ikesharpless I think "lived" inflects the meaning to gesture to the body rather than the mind/intellect, and am suspecting that answers to this question reflect people's understanding of that duality.
@AmeliaTGrabow late to this but my quasi-related opinion based on my guesswork about our relative ages, is: you're a middle-of-the-road millennial, maybe even a younger millennial, surely?
If you're interested in my book The Myth of the Twelve Tribes of Israel, I've been given a discount code to celebrate the release of the paperback. You can go here: https://t.co/7kNXGbD83t and use the code TMTTI2023 !
A year ago, Roe was overturned. As a fertility doctor, my patients have felt and lived the consequences of this.
The nonviable fetus after IVF. Delay in care because out of state terminations are full, resultant termination at a later gestation by 5 wks.

@ATobolowsky Our baby is just a guy, staring at a picture of a cliff in a nature book, yelling "CLIFFFFFF" and meaning "I want to read Clifford the Big Red Dog"; so there's a lot happening for him in terms of language use, yeah
An old story: they are apparently afraid of serious reprisals from the right if they cancel the event, and not afraid of consequences from the left for hosting it. This is an important new museum doing significant work to widen perspectives on the "founding" era. Frustrating.
@andytobo She writes like "2A" is like "gravity" instead of like "no wearing white after Labor Day"--I wish they knew how dumb this sounds to people with a functional view of both history and the international present

I've always figured that they know on some level that the cost of a college education is indefensible so they are pretty happy to launch on to the narrative that that's only true if you choose the wrong major
@danielpicus It’s very satisfying for me, a person seldom on Twitter, to have been shown both the og and follow-up here. I guess the algorithm… still works? (Also surely that translation was also quite a while ago?)
@jessgrieser My policy: students can assign their own deadline within 10 days of the one given on the assignment, if they ask at least 3 days in advance (make a plan!!). After the deadline my usual -1/3 letter grade a day applies. Only positive feedback from students on it for three years.
@duderrave Easy: You're 17 at the Steak N Shake in Valparaiso Indiana in the fall of 2000, it's about 11 p.m. & it's snowing out. You've been playing euchre for hours. You don't even know you shouldn't be drinking caffeine this late if you want to sleep well. You leave a tip in quarters.
It is **illegal** for public employees in Michigan to strike, yet a judge has just refused to issue an injunction against @geo3550's strike .
What's going on?
One of my biggest hobbyhorses is that labor folks should get the words "can" and "can't" out of their vocabulary.
