This is the video that former Bollywood actress Zaira Wasim, who quit showbiz for religious reasons, claiming working in the entertainment industry was against Islam, has a problem with. Soon after she announced her departure from films, her mother’s posts on Facebook cheering for Pakistan during cricket matches had gone viral. I remember the TV debates over it.
Now, years later, she is lecturing everyone else on what Muslim children should and should not be doing at Independence Day celebrations.
My memories of Independence and Republic Day celebrations in Jammu and Kashmir are of very elaborate programmes, even during the peak of terrorism. We had march-pasts, songs, dances and performances, and Muslim children participated just as enthusiastically as Hindu and Sikh children did. We did not see educated, exposed people speaking in such regressive language even back then. I do not remember anyone objecting to singing Vande Mataram either. We sang it all the time, including in schools where the overwhelming majority of students were Muslim and the management was Muslim.
These heightened religious sensitivities seem to have appeared with remarkable enthusiasm over the years. And if anyone needs to mind their own business and broaden their vision, it is Zaira Wasim.
May the sun in his course visit no land more free, more happy, more lovely, than this our own country !! Sharing this amazing song from Kargil.

Jai Hind. Vande Mataram🇮🇳
3 years back Hombale films released the full version of Vande Mataram. It’s sung by Vijay Prakash & features achievers across fields from Karnataka
It remains my favourite rendition of this beautiful song 🇮🇳
Israel didn’t just stand with India during the Kargil War it acted when India needed support the most. 🇮🇳🇮🇱
From urgently supplying ammunition and critical ordnance to drawing deep into its own military reserves for India, Israel proved that true strategic partnerships are built in moments of crisis, not just in times of peace.
India remembers those who stood with us. 🇮🇳🤝🇮🇱
