Over the last 24 hours:
1. IDF soldier shot an killed a 7 months old Palestinian baby in Hebron
2. IDF kills a senior Lebanese military officer and two other Lebanese soldiers in an air strike in southern Lebanon
3. Israeli Settlers aided by at least one IDF soldier (see video) conduct a Pogrom in the Palestinian village of Huwara. 9 Palestinians wounded
i'm obsessed with AI DIY projects.
my favorite one right now is this broccoli farmer in hokkaido, japan using Codex to run his 100-hectare farm
this guy never studied agriculture, never inherited land, started out as a civil servant.
but he wanted his farm to run better, and instead of paying an engineering firm he couldn't afford, he just built the tools himself.
here's what he's built on his own:
> remote control of his greenhouse vents from a chat app, wired up with an esp32 board, a motor driver, and cloudflare workers
> a bot that checks each greenhouse's temperature and opens the vents when it gets too hot
> satellite crop-health data laid over a map of his own fields
> an airtable base linking his plots, tasks, materials, and sensors
> wiring diagrams of his electrical panels, generated from a photo
stuff like this used to be locked behind machinery and engineers only the big agribusinesses could pay for.
but this legend just breezed past all of it with a laptop and Codex lol
"Tomé mi lanzacohetes y ordené a los soldados bombardear un edificio donde vivía una familia palestina, les ordené que los quemaran a todos vivos. Cuando los bombardeamos, miré a mi amigo y le dije que era muy divertido oírles gritar mientras se quemaban vivos".
Yarden Megira, soldado sionista, criminal de guerra y psicópata profesional, confiesa que quemó viva a una familia palestina y luego se quedó a escuchar como gritaban de dolor mientras ardían.
Each time we release a model, we run the same test: give it code that trains a small AI model, ask the new model to speed it up. It takes a skilled human 4-8 hours to reach 4x faster.
In May 2024, Claude Opus 4 averaged a ~3x speedup. This April, Mythos Preview achieved ~52x.
In the first few weeks of the war in Gaza, the use of captured Palestinians to clear areas of improvised explosive devices was seen as an obvious solution to a lack of sniffer dogs, a former Israeli soldier told 1843 https://t.co/glqJ3mcLr7
Welp, that happened faster than I predicted. Thought it would be end of 2027, then early 2027, but agentic traffic growing so fast that bots have now passed human traffic online for the first time in the Internet's history. https://t.co/2zX5bHdhsa
Sam Altman, Dario Amodei, Demis Hassabis and many others have signed a letter urging Congress to increase security on orders of synthetic nucleic acids - and the equipment needed to make them - as models continue to become increasingly bio-capable.
