There are 74 remaining, & their situation is dire. 69% of their pregnancies fail, & of the live calves born, 50% die in their first year. Because their blubber is full of pollutants & they’re literally starving to death, they burn fat to produce milk & the toxins are offloaded 1/

There’s not enough fish for them to eat bc of hydroelectric dams blocking salmon river runs. Many of the females are post-menopausal as well, so fewer babies to boost the population.
Each of the 74 individuals has a name, & they are dying.
Strange call out, but if you are an exotic fish fan in Ottawa, there are dozens dying in a building with no power at 30 McEwan and the owner is desperately trying to rehome them for free. She’ll be here for another hour but her phone is dead - ask around for Tammy!
