A 1-year-old in Mississippi was shot and killed by police after a cop opened fire on a vehicle involved in an alleged shoplifting incident at a Walmart. An adult was also critically wounded.
A witness says they saw 2 women leaving the store with an infant, Kohen Kartier Wiley, and a box of diapers. Relatives deny that Wiley's mother and aunt were shoplifting, with some saying they had a digital receipt on a phone.
This is a national tragedy.
The officers knew about Kohen Kartier Wiley being in the car before they opened fire.
Firing into a moving vehicle in a crowded parking lot over a non-violent offense is both criminally reckless and completely unjustified.
RIP Kohen Kartier Wiley
Aaron Tucker had been out of prison for seven days. He had less than $2 in his pocket and one shot at turning his life around, a job interview that morning. Then he saw a car flip over and catch fire from his bus window.
He asked the bus driver if he was going to help. "No, but if you get out I'm going to leave," the driver replied. Tucker got out anyway.
He sprinted toward the upside-down, smoke-filled car and found the 61-year-old driver covered in blood.
He unbuckled the man's seatbelt and dragged him clear as the car started to catch fire.
He pulled off his own dress shirt and used it to stop the man's head wound from bleeding, telling him: "You're going to be all right. Your family wants to see you. Keep your eyes open."
The bus left. Tucker missed his interview.
When the story got out, strangers set up a GoFundMe that raised over $50,000 in three days. He also received multiple job offers in construction.
"I feel like a job can come and go, but a life is a one-time thing," Tucker said. "The job just wasn't in my mind at that time."
Was it Kool Aid when Trump/Hegseth banned books and websites celebrating Black history and Black heroes?
Conservatives are afraid that if fragile White kids learn about slavery and segregation they will identify with the slave masters instead of the abolitionists and freedom fighters and be traumatized.
Was it Kool Aid when Hegseth blocked the promotions of Black senior officers or removed them from commissions? They just can't be that good.
It was great joining Njideka Akunyili Crosby — a gifted Nigerian-born, Los Angeles-based artist — to unveil our first portrait together. This piece reflects so many chapters of Michelle and my story, and we’re thrilled that it will be on display in the Hope and Change lobby at the Obama Presidential Center starting this Juneteenth.
@Dyoung1208@SubmitFightz No surprise. You don't even believe the things that you can see with your own eyes.
Trump has pulled the wool so much you're blind to the truth.
White freedom fighters like Viola Liuzzo, Schwerner and Goodman were murdered by White supremacists who were determined to keep Black people from voting.
It's too bad that you Trump supporters want to ban the Black history books that tell their stories. You're afraid White kids are too fragile to learn about slavery and segregation so they miss out on the abolitionist heroes like John Brown.
The real history is not which party was the worst it's the fact that it was always White supremacists who were the villains.
You conservatives of today are emulating those hate mongers of the past. Trump and the GOP are working overtime to erase the democratic gains those White Freedom Fighters gave their lives for.
🚨 NJ band director charged with repeatedly raping 13-year-old student
Daniel Burbank a teacher and band director at Bloomfield Middle School (and assistant band director at Bloomfield High School), was arrested for carrying out a sexual relationship with a student that began when the child was just 13.
Prosecutors say the abusive relationship continued for some time. Burbank now faces multiple charges.
Another trusted adult in a position of power exposed for preying on a child.
How many more of these monsters in our schools are abusing kids before they’re finally stopped?
Sheryl Crow speaks out after Trump’s UFC 250 event: “To stay quiet means to turn a blind eye. And so I am saying this. What happened last night on the lawn of the White House was disgraceful and void of decency. Powerful, rich people filled the lawn to watch a violent sport that ended with a vile and racist comment. All while the average American cannot afford healthcare, gas, and cost of living. Do not be fooled. This administration is corrupt and does not give a damn about the American people. It only cares about making money hand over fist at the expense and in spite of our democracy. If we continue to support this kind of distraction from reality, we are no better than them. Let's be better, America.”
In a shocking video statement alleging the Department of Justice is seeking pretext to indict him at Trump's behest, Gov. Gavin Newsom also addressed the White House’s open corruption at length, challenging the DOJ to act.
“If they really want to find corruption, look no further than 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue,” Newsom stated, before rattling off a laundry list of executive branch double-dealings.
“Donald Trump is selling the presidency. He’s running the largest cash heist in American political history, trading foreign tariff relief for approval of his golf courses, day trading behind the Resolute desk, reaping hundreds of millions of dollars in personal profit.
“And he’s doing it openly. He’s doing it on camera. He did it last night on the White House lawn. He’s doing it through cryptocurrencies. He’s doing it through the receipt of a $400 million private jet from a foreign government that he plans to keep when he leaves office through his son’s ventures in countries where his own administration is simultaneously making policy. His personal fortune has skyrocketed by $4 billion since making his return to office,” he observed.
“This is the behavior of a regime, not a republic. The White House has become a marketplace,” Newsom continued. “A marketplace for sneakers and coins and watches, cologne, guitars, Bibles and phones, influence for sale, access for sale. And today, my family and I can personally confirm that justice is for sale.”
Newsom concluded: “This country does not belong to you. It does not belong to your cronies. And we’re going to fight your lawlessness. And we’re going to continue to remind the people of this country of your corruption. That same corruption our founders warned us against.
“Mr. President, come after me. I’m not going anywhere, and the country is watching.”
A cremation funeral held for a tiger.
The tiger was known by locals as "Collarwali" due to being fitted with a radio collar to help researchers further study her.
She had given birth to 29 cubs throughout her life in 8 litters. She lived in the Pench Tiger Reserve and died at the age of 16.
He had no money to pay for surgery, so he offered two chickens instead.
In Tarija, Bolivia, 80-year-old farmer Pedro Quintana needed prostate surgery but could not afford the procedure. Dr. Álvaro Ramallo Zamora, a compassionate urologist, performed the operation free of charge through his foundation, choosing kindness over compensation.
Some time later, Quintana returned with the only thing he could offer: two chickens he had personally raised, named “Clotilde” and “Ramón.” Deeply touched by the gesture, Dr. Ramallo accepted the chickens not as payment, but as a sincere token of gratitude.
The doctor later shared that the humble gift reminded him of his father’s lifelong commitment to helping the poor. The heartwarming story quickly spread across Latin America, becoming a beautiful symbol of humility, human connection, and the profound bond between doctor and patient.
