Not going to dignify Adam Carolla's vile sentiments with an actual quote Tweet but, as an oncologist whose average patient is aged 68 and who has had cancer himself, I'd like to point out that the lives of the "old and sick" are very much worth defending.
As an oncology nurse, I still did not understand the magnitude of financial devastation of a cancer diagnosis but now with my own rare chronic disease, I get it. Very scary and sad.
In my masterclass I’ll teach you how to provoke others with seemingly innocuous statements like “no one should go bankrupt from their cancer” and “a public health crisis requires personal responsibility”
Fame does not protect from illness, and neither does virtue
The most saintly man I’ve ever known went to his grave with a cancer he surely didn’t “deserve”
He was my father, and he is why I became an oncologist
With so much unfairness in the world, we can still choose kindness
That heartbreaking feeling when, after you've told a patient their cancer is growing, they pause before leaving and say, with the utmost graciousness: "Doc, I'm glad your own scans are stable"
I truly don't deserve these people, but they make me a more mindful & thankful patient
@bukkybee123 Sounds like a foundation for a lawsuit too me. What do they care what you champion for?! That sounds like a bully trying to control people. Stand up to the bully!!! #UAdvocateU
God gives blessings and is there to help you endure the suffering of the free will others abuse. Accountability is to God not from God and should be delivered by those who commit the crime and abuse. You can not dilute the Love of God.
Most memories are blurred now. Glad not to be living a lie. I’m a true survivor and I do feel like a little kid ;) I’m having the time of my life now! https://t.co/8JQBnlUSwJ
Are you feeling Hopeless today?
Does life seem to be one bad news story after another??
Does the Apocalypse seem
Right around the corner................
I think many of us feel the same way. On days like this we just have to turn up the Music and Dance! 💃🏿🕺🏿💃🏿🕺🏿 #holiday ♥️
Emergency medicine is a team sport.
If you’re the morning doc, your job is to help the night doc get home; your job is NOT to repeatedly question and second guess the night doc’s decision making.
Tell them even when you are a Doctor you won’t have the answer. Only suggestions based on current evidence based practices and research. You look for answers, the patient finds the right answers. They own the plan of care. You are a steward of service to do good. #UAdvocateU
@RedFlags12@UAdvocateU1@ASCO Very true. No one is asking to overlook mistakes that, but how that mistake is addressed will determine how much learning will come from it. Name the mistake, empathize, and give guidance how to improve. Dr. Evans gives a great example.
