@Jonathan_Blow You mean that a CJK font will need a larger font size to be equally readable and the amount of padding that looks aesthetically good is different? Or just that there are edge-cases in calculating the text bounding box?

@steamcito_ar El unico argumento bueno, que curiosamente no lo nombran, es el efecto de red.
Le podrían exigir que Steam Matchmaking, Lobbies, Friends y Chat tenga que poder usarse sin una cuenta de Steam como si se puede con Epic Online Services

@steamcito_ar Lo del precio es un malentendido. Se puede vender el juego más barato en cualquier store, lo que no podes es vender _keys de steam_ más baratas que en el store oficial.

@Argenpoirot También está el "Romance Neolatino" que es parecido pero no apunta a ser lengua auxiliar sino a ser lingua franca romance, entonces tiene la gramatica menos simplificada (hay conjugaciones verbales, genero, etc.)

@graceblakeley With the .com it was basically that. It didn't matter what problem the startup was solving, or if the internet was useful at all, it was "on the internet" and that's all that mattered because it was the new thing.

@graceblakeley To me what's puzzling is how investors are happy asking "what are you doing with AI" instead of "what problem are you solving and why is your solution better".
To the point you get stuff like the metaverse and NFTs that's not useful at all or even well defined

@luccahuguet @lauriewired @fabiomb And they are pretty useless. Just enable auto-subs on any video, especially a technical one and see how often it messes up. Each time that happens the dub will say nonsense in the best of cases and plausible bs in the more harmful cases.

Youtube automatically assumes that every person in the world is monolingual and you have to change the audio track every single time. With shorts on mobile if it's possible I couldn't find the option.

@lauriewired @fabiomb I was just commenting on that. Yeah if you can review and correct or just hand-write English subs then the translations can be pretty reasonable. It's bad voice-to-text what makes it suck terribly.

@lauriewired Youtube's autodub is terrible. The problem is that is does voice-to-text-to-L2-to-voice so if the first step fails all your dubs are incorrect. And it can be something as simple as you making a pause and the VTT putting a period instead of a comma, not just technical terms,

@inkblotPrincess My best bet is a subscription-based computer, where you don't own the hardware nor the software nor your data. Always online, always tracking you and of course with LLMs built so deep in it they can't be disabled in any way.

@akio_1963 So the tractor beam and other similar effects are fully opaque animations that happen to be perfectly aligned with the background? Woah I always imagined it was a real time effect done by sampling the background.
