Healthcare in the US is crazy.

Years ago in Telluride my youngest son age 9 developed terrible abdominal pain. Paramedics came to the hotel, said it might be an appendicitis. Brought us down to the Telluride urgent care and woke the doctor up who lived next door.

Doc came over, lifted my son’s heel up over the bed and let it drop. He turned to us and said “it’s just a stomach ache. No appendicitis. If that ever happens again use the heel drop. If they scream in agony, then go to the hospital.”

We received bills from Telluride Medical Center for next five years or so. Just randomly. Probably totaled around $7000.00.

A year would go by and then another bill would randomly appear.

That is one expensive heel drop.
