I just calculated how much it would take to pay for a 20 year mortgage in Kenya for 20million home: ksh 234,315.14.
But if you took the same amount, ksh 230,000, rented an apartment for ksh 130,000 & saved the balance at 7% compounding you'd have ksh 52m in the bank in 20yrs
Hello @ntsa_kenya, if mandatory inspections for private motor vehicles are genuinely about road safety and saving lives, then kindly assure Kenyans that once this programme is implemented, road carnage will reduce by at least 20% and we will see fewer lives lost on our roads.
We have thousands of unroadworthy PSVs continuing to operate daily, our roads remain chaotic, and the way driving licences are issued should itself be a starting point if we are serious about improving standards. We need to add the thousands of boda boda riders with little or no formal training, together with inconsistent enforcement of the most basic traffic laws.
If this exercise is truly about protecting human life rather than creating another revenue stream, then give Kenyans measurable targets. Publish them and let the country hold you accountable. If saving lives is the objective, the results should be visible. Otherwise bure Kabisa.
It is what it is.

Thats an annual revenue of 12Billion for govt.
This is another indirect tax that Kenyans will be forced to pay.

Another collection of pictures for the people of Nairobi, highlighting the outstanding efficiency, hard work, innovation and patriotism of my brother @MuriraKinoti, his able team @KURAroads, the true humanitarians at @ntsa_kenya who always put citizens lives and road safety above everything else, and of course the men and women of the highest integrity and true visionaries at @047County for their tireless efforts in transforming our great capital into a first-world city.
Orderly roads, world-class planning, impeccable standards… simply outstanding.

The proposed NTSA rule to inspect all vehicles over 4 years old is a solution in search of a problem. It won't reduce accidents. It will, however, create a golden opportunity for corruption at inspection centers. Fix the real issues, not the paperwork.
