@uncledoomer I love mine, need to tell more people about it though.
This guy should have focused on getting rid of that nasty carpet first. Gliding majestically across a beautiful wooden floor in your chair is unbeatable.
There are a small number of people whose support of their local team is analogous to football supporters in Europe, but sport is not intertwined with culture and local identity in the same way, with few exceptions. There are drafts that take players and ship them all over the country, leaving little chance of a local lad coming through. The connection is just not the same.
The fact that teams regularly move from one city to another is emblematic of US sport being more entertainment than culture. You can't take a local identity, that's born of an area's culture, and drop it in another city - but you can move a theme park from one city to another.
Of 24 flights I've taken in the last three years, the longest delay I've faced was 10 minutes. There are flight delays but this is far from a universal experience.
Also, I think about 1% of my Amazon orders have been delayed, out of several hundred orders from the past decade. Where is this shit happening that it's that frequent?
Not closed, they're looking at their phone or doing anything other than paying attention to the road. The number of people I see swerving between lanes because they can't stop looking at their phone or turning around to talk to people in the back seat is staggering.
The driving test is way too easy and the bar for removal of one's license is way too high. 40k traffic fatalities per year. Its mind boggling.
American society is largely ok with tens of thousands of people dying on the roads every year if the alternative is more difficult driving tests, lower speed limits, and more people losing the right to drive.
If you're demanding AC when it's 13°C outside, either the hotel has placed you next to a boiler room or you are extremely overweight.
I see people at Disneyland who are red in the face and sweating when it's 21°C/70°F outside and they look tremendously uncomfortable. They'll have a fan around their neck and/or in their hand for round-the-clock cooling, even when it's objectively not hot outside. I suspect their home AC is never switched off.
Genuinely staggered by the people leaning on anecdotes in these replies.
The number of serious accidents you'd find among 10,000 drivers over 10,000 miles apiece would be way more than five. The accident fatality rate is approximately 1.25 per 100m miles, with about 75 injuries every 100m miles - coming from roughly 190-200 accidents per 100m miles.
Obviously not a clear apples-to-apples comparison because you'd have to isolate the data to the areas in which Waymo operates - areas that tend not to have snow or much rainfall. I'm cooking lunch though so I haven't got time.
@helllojojo It's savings though, tax free or not, that's typically not money you spend. Even if you're broke, as long as you can pay your bills, you shouldn't be habitually digging into your savings outside of an emergency.
@ggreenwald It's also really cool when establishment Democrats tell the public and elected members of their party who they should and shouldn't talk to and/or listen to. That always comes off in such a benevolent and endearing way.
@JeremiahDJohns It's just prepared dreadfully so often that people hate it. I hate how my mom cooked it and many friends' parents as well. Utterly disgusting. I use it in my cooking now, but still wouldn't eat it the way my mom made it.
@yariburenn It's genuinely appalling - any comment or post that uses it can safely be disregarded.
My favorite is the more recent spelling of their cute term for sexual assault. No longer shackled to, "he was accused of SA," - now, "he was accused of 'essaying' someone." Magical.
@thechosenberg Splurging on a vacation versus dramatically improving your daughter's living conditions - this person's Facebook friends are in for tremendous moaning in the vein of, "my ungrateful bitch of a daughter no longer speaks to me." Tragic.
Americans hound people from Canada, Australia, UK, etc. when they use local pronunciations, slang, or any wording that strikes them as odd. It's really weird to see and it's why so many people from non-US anglosphere countries Americanize their content and reduce their accent. Americans demand homogenization.
Also, the p-slur was just a word where I grew up. Not frequently used but just a shortened version of Pakistani.
@Mangan150 The eggs are usually the best thing. Yogurt has as much sugar as ice cream, same with any pastries. Being able to get an omelette with meat and vegetables is really the only way to go.
I walk everywhere because I enjoy walking. I wish people who were extremely sedentary would do that. You see these types at Disneyland, completely red in the face when it's 75 degrees because they've just spent 15 minutes walking.
Given some people's starting point, on the couch or in a chair, there may even be some fat loss.
@adamcarolla@spencerpratt This is legitimately retarded. At least you could point to Donald Trump running a large business, even free of context, for decades.
@w2chaser@PatrickHeizer Average family, presumably Married Filing Jointly. That'll reduce the California state taxes by ~$3,000 and federal taxes by $10,000 per annum.
