@AnaestheticsApp Lookin sleek! I tend to use (?overuse) emojis to make simple yet eye-catching UI... There's the challenge of consistency across devices, but it's normally quite nice... Just my 2p worth!
I am the educational and academic supervisor of several junior doctors and I run projects for medical students in my research group.
It is frightening how many are taking exams for the US and Canada and how many are applying for jobs in Australia. I have never seen anything like this in my entire career
I don't think the government / general population appreciates how soon the system will collapse if they don't address the pay erosion for the junior doctors ASAP
@Anchit171 As for support via employers, I've no idea 🤷♂️
One professor once told me "Universities see Masters courses as money-earners, so even with the best research proposal in the world, any funding support would be charitable in nature".
He signed off that email with.. "Good luck" 😬
@Anchit171 I searched last year for a similar MSc. There may be grants specific to your:
- Course/University (e.g., Grundy Educational Trust)
- Geography (e.g., St. Nicholas' Educational Trust)
- Socioeconomic status (i.e., Scholarships for underrepresented groups)
Think widely
👎 Medical school admissions policies are wordy and fraught with unclear exceptions.
Pretend to be an applicant for a moment and read just one. Now, add some contextual markers (i.e., low income). What extra support would they receive? Any?
Now compare unis.
👎 Disadvantaged students without 3 A*s at #Alevel are often discouraged early on from applying to study medicine. But contextual adjustments DO exist - they're just hard to find!

Just last year I did a research project for my Masters that briefly discussed how difficult this was to do. Now this - this, right here - is evidence of progress in the field!
Our work studying the connectome of an insect brain, that of a Drosophila larva, is out today in Science! https://t.co/GWx4HSSIVr Some highlights below and in @WindingMichael’s thread. Work with @neuro_data, Carey Priebe, @albertcardona, @ZlaticLab, and many others.
