🌍 On #WorldRefugeeDay, we remember the 4,000 Basque children that fled to the United Kingdom aboard the SS Habana during the Spanish Civil War.

Once they arrived, football played a vital role in helping the exiled children adapt to their new surroundings in dark times.

⚽ Several of the refugees became professional footballers, some even signed for @Athletic_en

🗓️ In 2022, #ACMuseoa, with the help of @basquechildren, opened a temporary exhibition at San Mames to highlight the story of the 'Niños Vascos'.
