This weekend involved the most fires I’ve seen in such a short space of time. We all dug in and worked around the clock to keep these fires down. Near the end of my shift this little guy poked his head out from where he was burrowed. Instantly reminded me of why I do this job

Had a great day yesterday with @ForestryEngland learning about a new 119 hectare planting site. Modern day forestry requires input from so many sources. This is not the monocultures of the past. This multi-objective forestry, for the people,environment and the industry 🌳

@morethanmum @euroak @royal_forestry @ForestryComm @lwhemmings @WoollyMaggot Historically we used asulox, but I’ve tried bracken rolling with some success, it seems more successful at repressing next years growth then mowing/flailing it. Timing is critical, early in the season (as soon as it hits knee height) seems to work best! 2/2
