After Turkey - Paraguay match I decided to remind you something:
1/ 🧵 Here's a story almost nobody knows: the people who basically BUILT football in the Ottoman Empire — and who first carried its flag to the Olympics — were Armenians.
A thread on a lost chapter of the game. 👇
In 1921 two internationally unrecognized regimes, Russia and Turkey ILLEGALLY signed the Moscow Treaty behind Armenia’s back and partitioned historic Armenian lands.

NH Armenians Jeanmarie Papelian and her son Luke Bottomley joined U.S. Rep. @ChrisPappasNH, as he filed to run for U.S. Senate. The ANCA-endorsed candidate is running against John E. Sununu, whose family profits from Azerbaijan's genocidal ethnic cleansing of Artsakh.

Number 3, Armenia’s opposition leader Samvel Karapetyan, is missing from one of the polling stations ballots. Armenia is an authoritarian dictatorship. The polling stations are rigged in time for tomorrow’s elections. #armenia#authoritarian#dictatorship
Should be common knowledge that theres an ancient fortress in every village in Armenia. But damn, the one in Aruch is a whole castle waiting to be unearthed.

🇦🇲🇦🇲🇦🇲To every Armenian and every citizen who loves Armenia. Especially to the Armenian National Committee:
The EU (that is, Ursula and her entourage) has decided to create ghettos for illegal migrants in third countries. The notorious Pashinyan has decided to accept 250,000 illegal migrants. (I believe, however, that the number will be 500,000.)
Perhaps this is among the conditions imposed by the EU, which openly supports him in Sunday’s elections.
This will be a disaster for our already suffering people. Let us not accept it. Let us protest. Let us send Pashinyan to Ankara.🇦🇲🇦🇲🇦🇲
🇦🇲 CSI calls for the immediate release of Artur Osipyan, a refugee and activist from Artsakh/Nagorno Karabakh who has been detained by the Armenian authorities since May 18.
On May 18, Osipyan approached Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a campaign event and confronted him over his policy towards Nagorno Karabakh.
The prime minister erupted at him, screaming, "I will crush you. You should have gone and died in place of our children. You scumbag, why are you alive?"
Shortly thereafter, Osipyan was arrested and ordered detained for two months. He is currently on a hunger strike.
This is a clear case of arbitrary detention. Osipyan is being punished for exercising his right to free speech.
A broad coalition of Armenian human rights groups is calling for his immediate release, and asking @CommissionerHR to intervene with the Armenian government on his behalf. We support this call:

Property of the Artsakh government in exile to be seized by the Armenian government
An Armenian administrative court judge has approved a prosecutor-general's request to seize the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Artsakh in Yerevan, effectively stripping the exiled government of its property.
The building serves as the headquarters where the leadership and parliament meet to coordinate human rights efforts and advocate for the 150,000 refugees ethnically cleansed from #NagornoKarabakh.
Acting President Ashot Danielyan condemned the judicial act as "shameful, illegal, and immoral," while the exiled administration's legal team has vowed to appeal the decision.
This property seizure is part of a broader political campaign by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to downplay the historic Christian Armenian identity of Artsakh ahead of national parliamentary elections next Sunday.
The domestic eviction coincides with aggressive rhetoric from neighboring Azerbaijan, which continues to assert claims over sovereign Armenian territory. Despite Pashinyan's concessions aimed at halting Azerbaijani expansionism, Azerbaijani leadership has openly backed the resettlement of hundreds of thousands of Azeris into what they term "Western Azerbaijan" – a label grafted onto the entirety of #Armenia.
Amidst these pressures, the Artsakh leadership continues to champion the Swiss Peace Initiative to negotiate an internationally supervised right of return for its displaced population.

On May 26, 451, on the plains of Avarayr, the Armenian people fought their first battle for faith against the Sasanian Persian Empire.
The Battle of Avarayr became a decisive moment in the national liberation struggle of 450–451. The Armenians had risen in rebellion in response to Persian attempts to force them to abandon Christianity. Although Vartan Mamigonian was killed in battle, the Persians suffered heavy losses and eventually abandoned their plan of forced religious conversion.
The struggle continued even after the battle, primarily in regions such as Artsakh, Tayk, and Tmorik, where Armenians waged ongoing guerrilla warfare to exhaust the enemy.
Ultimately, the Persian court reduced taxes and accepted Armenia’s autonomy. The Armenian Church canonized those who fell at Avarayr, honoring them as martyrs of the homeland.

🟡 Christians in Jerusalem have faced increasing harassment and attacks by Israeli Jews, including vandalism of churches and cemeteries, spitting on clergy, and assaults. Christian church leaders say these incidents threaten the city’s historic Christian community and criticize insufficient protection from authorities.

Armenia: one of the oldest countries in the world and the first country to accept Christianity as a state religion, with a continuous history and cultural presence dating back thousands of years. Its roots and rich heritage make it a foundational pillar of human civilization.

Wonderful news from #Armenia 🇦🇲
A new initiative helps children expelled from Artsakh / #NagornoKarabakh retain their identity and culture ✨
In the project led by the Hovhannes Tumanyan Museum, forcibly displaced Artsakh children actively narrate and produce animated fairy tales in their Artsakh dialect, thus protecting endangered Armenian Christian culture.
This practice prevents the gradual erosion of their shared memory. The initiative successfully strengthens the children's sense of belonging and historical identity, despite their forced displacement.
This beautiful work ensures that ancestral traditions survive for future generations.
Happy Saturday! 🕊️
