@viperwave I just really really liked how open 1 left the characters' fates and was entirely satisfied with never hearing from them again or Byakuya actually getting fat and dying, which I thought was hilarious.
homer’s iliad (Ἰλιάς) presents achilles as facing (“διχθαδίας κῆρας.”) “a twofold fate.” its force lies in κῆρες, which signifies allotted destinies rather than mere deaths, making heroism a matter of choosing between competing forms of life rather than resisting fate itself.
Don't get why Pinker and New Atheists can't admit that their understanding of human equality is based in the Hebraic moral tradition. You can be an atheist and admit this (read Feuerbach). Israelite religion emphasized taking care of widows and orphans in a way the Greeks didn't.
The 2020s are the most symbolically rich and theologically complex time in human history but most people are simply not literate enough to perceive this
I used to think humanity spontaneously organised into civilisational superstructures when information and connection density increased.
Now I understand that IQ at the node is the bottleneck. Social intelligence only occurs within a fiercely defended walled world where the average IQ is 95 or higher.
I have a controversial theory
All the idiots think that being intelligent is not important
Why?
First, because they have not benefited from it because how can they
Also, because they don't differentiate between being intelligent and being neurotic
They don't know what it feels like to learn faster, solve harder problems, or recognize patterns others miss
Intelligence helps you understand reality better
Neuroticism makes you worry about things more
In the neurotic's brain, things don't have to be real for them to worry about them
Some neurotic people are intelligent they think deeply but move slowly
Most people think all intelligent people are like this but this is simply not true
There are four combinations:
A) Low intelligence + Low neuroticism
Moves quickly and confidently, but often in the wrong direction because they fail to understand the problem but can succeed with high volume, this is the retard maxxer meme
B) High intelligence + High neuroticism
Thinks deeply but moves slowly, they often see real problems, but also make them bigger at times and at other times they might imagine many that don't exist, making decisions harder and movement slower
C) Low intelligence + High neuroticism
This is by far the worst combination
They misunderstand reality and are paralyzed by imagined threats
D) High intelligence + Low neuroticism
Thinks deeply, sees reality clearly, and acts decisively
This is the ideal combination
C is by far the worst out of all the types
D is the best
A & B are tied in second place
Some jobs reward confidence and persistence more than precision
You can retard max your way to becoming a great salesman for example
A mediocre but fearless salesperson can outperform a slightly smarter but much more hesitant one
But a neurosurgeon needs more accuracy, good judgment, and finesse
Choose the job that suits your personality
Another point is that you should adopt a different mentality depending on the task you have
Many people keep the same mentality and risk tolerance regardless of how important or difficult the task is
As the cost of being wrong increases, your thinking should become more careful, many people never make that adjustment
Making cereal is much easier and far less risky than making an omelet
An omelet demands timing, coordination, and precision, if you leave it more than necessary, you could overcook the eggs
If you're careless, hot oil and an unattended pan can even start a kitchen fire
As the complexity of the task increases, so does the cost of mistakes
The really intelligent ones know when to go super fast and when to slow down
IQ is positively correlated to everything that we like, and negatively correlated to everything that we dislike.
Serial killers are dumber than average.
Beautiful people are smarter than average.
Athletic people are smarter than average.
Jerks are dumber than average.
Hard working people are smarter than average.
IQ is not without its downsides but it is the best single measure of virtue.
The most aristocratic thing you can do is have a tragic outlook. This is a social class that’s been losing ground since the Industrial Revolution, falling farther from power with each decaying estate.
Being positive is bourgeois. Sunrises are bourgeois. They’re the real winners.
@tomieinlove So much of the bourgeois obsession with "trauma" comes from a failure to register this. Like yeah, that's what life is. You're born from a wound, covered in blood and shit, what did you think would happen.
being high iq and low class is the ultimate blessing because you can simply be a witness and participant to the glory of human life for its own sake and no one can really bully you into making you toil like a low class person with no recourse (low iq) can
this is also the job of an artist
@novusolus Leveraging it against our enemies, I guess. Until they start attacking infrastructure and using HAM radio. They would need their own heatsink, like twitter currently acts as displacement for actual RW organization.
@novusolus Danganronpa is probably a bit low brow for you but it was my favorite instance of this because it sublated the metaphysical layers of its influences into pure social dynamics; replaced gnosis with pragmatics. Was a materialist teenager when I played it though.
