Sadly that group of accounts, mostly run by one person who adores the attention & drama they create-is entirely addicted to the dopamine kicks from every sincere tweet from Carl and from his followers defending him, & do not have the self awareness to see that the wellbeing of wildlife is being put aside in favour of deeply unhealthy & harmful online behaviour. Itβs fuelled by mental illness and has done vast harm before to individuals I know because of a lack of accountability & laws controlling online trolling, especially in this god forsaken website, but happily that is about to change-the Home Office are drafting new laws triggered by a recent book release about an online hate campaign & the huge response to it involving parliament.
@BlueSeas111@NdimJesus@scarimor@HedgehogCabin@AdoptionsUk@CarlBovisNature The hedgehog in the photo doesn't look particularly skinny, most hedgehogs are underweight atm because of the weather and feeding their babies. There were only 3 ticks. HC states that you shouldn't intervene. And this "expert" also gets her information from AI btw.
@NdimJesus@scarimor@HedgehogCabin@AdoptionsUk@CarlBovisNature Precisely! This is from HC themselves! They even state that capturing the hedgehog would be harmful.
Regarding the skinny hedgehog, Carl has stated that he has spoken to a hedgehog expert who has advised against interving at this stage.

Claire, do you honestly think, if I had any inkling a life was in danger, that I'd do nothing?!
I've had the footage observed by a lady who runs her own hedgehog rescue, she said although the Hedgehog looks on the skinny side, it's eating fine and showing no other signs of illness. She said she wouldn't advise catching it and stressing it without other signs and advised me to just keep feeding it and keeping an eye on it, which I have been doing. If I have any concerns in the meantime, I have her number, she doesn't live far from me, and she'll come over and look over them.
People piling-on have no idea of what I am like and are making assumptions about my character that are completely false. That's what I'm calling self-righteous, it looks like bullying to anyone on the outside of that bubble.
There are millions of people who don't care about animals or wildlife, there are sadly many who are outright cruel to animals, absolutely evil... just the other day a group of kids kicked a poor Hedgehog to death..π€¬
But you're all focusing your ire on someone who loves wildlife more than most people, who has rescued so many different species over the years, who uses his platform to highlight challenges facing wildlife or to call out cruel practices, who shares his photographs to bring a bit of nature joy to many people all over the world.... it's ridiculous to even suggest I'm happy for any creature to die! π
@cookmandy@HedgehogCabin@AdoptionsUk He is monitoring the hedgehog and has spoken to a hedgehog expert who has recommended that he just keeps an eye on it, feeding it and giving it water
