@mareledes Yes. The pricing structure from Petroleum Fund already allows for that. A few other stakeholders can be engaged to enable it.

@mareledes It wasn’t a formal documented paper, but it was a forum through which the idea could be developed further if the audience felt it made sense. Our challenge is that we do not have a formal body for public policy, we are reactive rather than proactive.

@mareledes That cushion could be kept in a blocked account and there should be triggers set to use that reserve. This way, only fuel users pay for it. That rationale is that fuel isn’t a public good

@mareledes No, not the fuel price and not using taxpayers funds. It sets a dangerous precedent. I suggested a few years ago that fuel price be structured in a manner that we have a portion to cushion against catastrophic price such as this one. Perhaps have 5 lisente/litre.

@YourKayBol @lolly_thamae They have a challenge of inevitable second round effects, whose brunt will be felt disproportionately by the poor, should the status quo prevail much longer. That’s exactly where will have to respond more robustly
