So basically Joe doesn't get it or he pretends that he doesn't get it. The criticism was never about failing to land a star. It's about star chasing at the expense of marginal moves. You have a 38-year-old Steph who's still a top-10 player in the league. Surround him with role players who can actually play basketball and this team is a playoff team with a puncher's chance. The frustration is that instead of that, they ran back the same 37-win roster while chasing stars
Joe Lacob on the Warriors drafting Jonathan Kuminga:
"I do not view Jonathan Kuminga as a mistake. I think we may have made some mistakes in how would we handle it and how he handled it, maybe he made some mistakes, and obviously that's well documented and we had to move on, but he's an NBA player and played in the playoffs, and did really well. This not a mistake at the 7th pick. There were 7th picks that are out of the League."
Mike Dunleavy on how aggressive the Warriors have been:
"We're super aggressive. I mean, if people knew the cold calls I made, offering a lot of stuff for players, I think they'd realize how hard we're trying ... I feel pretty confident that if we have to improve the roster in the middle of the season, we can."

@TheNBABase@MontePooleNBCS One of the best GM in the NBA in Brad Stevens calling you asking your asset for ALL NBA 2nd Team player, and it's called 'unimpressed with the warriors asset'. Got it. Nice PR work Joe!
@OCLakerfan@APH00PS@TheSteinLine Yeah and will you add context why he was on QO? He was expected to sign more than 100M deal before his domestic violence thing
How many players who were eligible for a qualifying offer actually got a better deal later? I know Marc Stein is a very credible source, but he also reports what agents want him to say. PWat has over $60M on the table, so do you really expect me to believe heβd bet on himself and turn that down, especially with his history of hamstring issues?
Iβve seen guys claim theyβd play on a qualifying offer, only to end up signing a very team-friendly deal time and time again. Ever heard of Jonathan Kuminga? Last year, players who took the qualifying offer hoping for a bigger payday were Cam Thomas and Quentin Grimes. We all know where Cam Thomas is now.
As for Quentin Grimes, even though he eventually got a bigger $60M/4-year deal, his situation was completely different. Philly only offered him about $1M to 2M above the qualifying offer, so opting in was a no-brainer for him. That's a totally different story from PWat's situation. Again, nobody turns down that kind of guaranteed money on the table.
@themannotchild@JWeinbachNBA Yeah I mean he has upside but PJ Washington is a proven nba level playoff rotation player. He can space the floor, defend, do the read and react basketball, and fit next to Luca which is also proven. All of these are lacking for JK. I think they should target PJ first?
I agree. But that will be in March at the earliest. We know the Warriors will be around 10-12th seed in the west without Jimmy and Moody. So you are telling me Jimmy comes back in March with playing time restriction around 20-25minutes, and they can compete for the playoffs? If the answer is no, it's better to move.
