@LekanFabilola@SavvyRinu You've done your best &for the sake of posterity too. Risking your opinion in a turbulent politically charged debate. Both side of the debate w/out even knowing. Let them enjoy. For the single reason of being misrepresented, pls dont go further on it. You've proved your depth.

@Ify_Zoe That is the elephant in the room. Bringing to end any hope for fiscal federalism. It will be the most powerful tool to give rise to absolute power... You don't want to imagine the far reaching consequences.
@Ify_Zoe @seunonigbinde To reiterate, that bill has far reaching consequences. And as such must be treated as a constitutional matter because that is what it is. It slams the door on Restructuring in a way and further increases the powers of the central govt on something as crucial to individual life.
@Ify_Zoe @seunonigbinde People are not thinking. And the intellectual class are the biggest disgrace.
VAT has no business as a NASS law. It is a state law. And each state can use it as a tool to develop. No sharing sharing.
@Ify_Zoe @seunonigbinde Again @seunonigbinde On Personal Income Tax is it true that the consolidated reliefs have now been reduced to rent reliefs alone? The answer will reveal whether the reliefs increased or reduces in the new bill. If the reliefs reduces then it is another area that needs tackling.
@Ify_Zoe @seunonigbinde People knew how many years Trophy beer stayed in Southwestern states before they became "available" in Lagos? Lowered VAT in one state may attract business &consumers to choose value brands. VAT as state law is true fiscal federalism. Everyth else is more of the old unitary order
@Ify_Zoe @seunonigbinde Meanwhile Seun is in a better position to advise. But issues like, if it is true, permitting laws to change via executive order is too much of power to a single person and is open to abuse. Also give excess power of control to one single agency of govt also have consequences.
@Ify_Zoe @seunonigbinde I really don't know what people are seeing but paving way for centralized collection system appears to be more of constitutional reform which should require a constitutional process. Fiscal unitary system. A completion of what happened in 1966 or so.
@OWallelle The danger of this kind of narrative is that it can degenerate fast into something negative. The bill has errors that are open to correction but don't reduce it to something capable of becoming a divisive propaganda to promote hurt or hate against a people.
@Ify_Zoe Double taxation will be the first effect of a centralized collection system. Both legally and illegally. And ideologically, empowering one single govt agency to have such absolute power has far reaching consequences. It is beyond north vs south.
