This March is the beginning not the end. It’s going to take all of us showing up every year at our state legislatures and in Congress demanding action. It’s going to take a decade or more but we can get there the more of us who are in the mvmt the faster we can get there
Gonna spend the next couple hours signing thank-you notes in my new novel. So many people supported this journey!

Just reply or DM. #Grateful
Looking beyond race = looking beyond racism. Dr. Ibram X Kendi helped us to see that when we don't see race, we can't"see" our students culture and how our structures, policies and classroom practices are impacting specific groups of students. #TLC2020
I'm thrilled to welcome @KamalaHarris to a historic Democratic ticket. She's already proven herself to be an incredible public servant and leader. And I know she’ll be a strong partner to @JoeBiden. Please join me in having her back and getting her elected.
I’ve known Senator @KamalaHarris for a long time. She is more than prepared for the job. She’s spent her career defending our Constitution and fighting for folks who need a fair shake. This is a good day for our country. Now let’s go win this thing.
"Educators at every level must be willing to be uncomfortable in their struggle for black students, recognizing students’ power and feeding it by honoring their many contributions to our schools."

As schools open this fall:
🔘Some kids will be socially overstimulated
🔘Some kids will struggle w/ increased academic demands
🔘Many kids will need to adjust sleep patterns
We *must* begin to focus on #adultSEL & #selfcare now so that we are able to support every student child
In this moment of inexpressible pain, CASEL stands with those advocating for the change this country has waited too long to see. Our country, our cities, our schools and our students—especially those of color—need support right now. #SEL#blacklivesmatter https://t.co/AqKY9jfFLQ
Be clear on your stance for reform and the current injustice in society, and don’t be afraid to be vocal about it. Your students are watching and listening right now... more than you know!
I have no idea what school will look like in the Fall, but whether it’s in-person or online, it will NEED to include tons of SEL and healing-informed work to deal with staff, student, and family trauma. Compassion before curriculum.
Educators. This is a teachable moment. Don’t be afraid to teach about the meaning of justice and the murder of George Floyd by the police. Our students are watching.
Congratulations 🎉 to Speer ES first year teachers, Samuel E., Christina M., Angelika G., and Natalie D! Your Speer family is proud of your passion for the work, growth mindset, and dedication to our students and parents! #1inthebooks
