@aliciaberri Is this a real thing? I've had orthostatic hypotension for a little while but I'm still waiting to get my health insurance card. I passed out and had to go to the ER and they did tests but didn't know what's wrong, just dangerously low blood pressure whenever I stand up

@pxnzischemes I don't really like service culture. I don't hate the idea of people working less. Automation and ubi are cool, but stratification or society where whole classes do all the work while other whole classes do nothing, to an extent that we can't even relate to each other. Gross

@offbeatorbit "I'm used to having freedom and cars" did it for me. As a person used to living in cities who can't afford cities anymore, it HURTS to get around without a car. Or to need to afford a car/get used to driving. The premise "freedom"=no public transportation??? I'm losing my mind..

@zukosmadre Even EYE (pro-union and former shop steward) have internal conflicts about this when working in restaurants where half my friends are undocumented. It doesn't matter if retaliation and calling ICE is illegal, it happens ALL the time w/o consequence and why would you risk that?

@zukosmadre growing incentive to always have a job for 30+ years. Often incarceration or deportation (of your work friends too) is the bigger fear than even homelessness. Criminalization of poverty makes being locked up a HUGE risk when you're unemployed (also wrote a paper about this)

@pxnzischemes And in his defense, he works in social work/healthcare w users/unhoused ppl who are not in a position to know or do anything about COVID (or care tbh) I think his attitude was "it's out of my hands so what's the point" so I was trying to counter the all or nothing framing

@pxnzischemes honestly convinced my bf to take precautions more seriously. It's been a big internal conflict but part of how was by being cooler with his family not taking precautions, basically saying "I get we can't convince everyone, but us masking is >nothing" framing it as a hard redux
