For the most part, the social housing system is designed for people that 'need help'. That undermines any dignity in that housing product.
Alternatively, the 'market-rate' units are beyond the reach of any average wage-earner.
The choice is non-existent.

The missing component to the housing argument around supply-side and demand side solutions is... CHOICE!

Supply and demand assumes that supply is diversified to match the various demands..

In our housing market we continue to increase supply, but the portfolio of supply is underdiversified.

We have market housing, and social housing for folks with complex needs. And nothing in between....

Surge Pricing is a lie... the companies have understaffed their workforce and induced demand by overpromising their service. If sales volumes increase, usually a company incentivizes customers with lower prices. Higher prices at higher volumes is just greed.

Policy and market solutions have failed. The politicians and developers operate like a cartel and benefit from our misery.
