Official account of State Rep. John Carson (R) representing Georgia House District 46. Protecting our conservative values. Leading the fight for school choice.
Congressman David Scott served our state with dignity and honor for many decades, including in the General Assembly before his congressional tenure.
As House Agriculture chairman, he gave voice to Georgia’s No. 1 industry and our farmers. Republicans and Democrats alike considered him a dear friend, and today, we’re praying for his family’s peace and comfort.
Happy that my transit tax referendum received final passage on Sine Die. HB 328 imposes an 8-year pause on new transit tax referendums after voters reject one, giving time before returning to voters for another 30-year tax. Proud to stand up for Cobb taxpayers. #HD46 #NoRhetoricJustResults https://t.co/oj9qfJtkFd
Honored to work again with my friend Rep. Esther Panitch to make sure our budget proposal include a provision to protect against antisemitism against the Jewish community.
I joined Greg Bluestein and Patrica Murphy on the Politically Georgia podcast yesterday to discuss the gas tax suspension and other news. Please take a moment to listen. My segment begins at the 16-minute mark.

Great to visit with Greg Bluestein and Patricia Murphy as a guest on the AJC Politically Georgia podcast. We discussed suspending the gas tax and saving Georgia families when they fill up! #HD46#NoRhetoricJustResults
Happy to have my bill HB 1199 signed by the Governor! This legislation will put Georgia's tax code in compliance with the federal code and suspend the motor fuel tax for two months. Governor Kemp also signed HB 1000, providing tax rebates for hardworking Georgians. We'll keep working hard to deliver results for you! #HD46 #NoRhetoricJustResults
Happy to carry SB 452 through to final passage. This legislation will aid in retaining and recruiting state troopers. I appreciated seeing these dedicated officers in the gallery yesterday as they observed the final passage of this important bill. #HD46#NoRhetoricJustResults
Today, the Senate passed my bill, HB 1199, and it is now waiting for the Governor's signature. I have received a couple of questions I want to answer. The gas tax suspension applies to both diesel and regular gasoline, saving you about 35 to 37 cents a gallon. The IRS conformity portion allows tax filers to deduct up to $10,000 in state and local taxes on their federal return. #HD46 #norhetoricjustresults
I was honored to present SB 452 today, which focuses on increasing state trooper retirement pay. I've been working on this issue for a long time. Currently, Georgia ranks 49th in the nation for trooper retirement benefits. Back in 1996, during the Olympics in Atlanta, we had more troopers on the roads. The decline is due to ongoing recruitment and retention challenges, which is unacceptable. I'm pleased to help develop a solution. Several state troopers were present in the gallery and watched the bill pass unanimously. The House thanks our law enforcement for all that you do. #HD46 #norhetoricjustresults
Moments ago, my bill HB 1199 passed the House! It incorporates several tax cuts from the One Big Beautiful Bill and temporarily suspends the gas tax for two months. #WorkingForYou#HD46
I'm pleased to share that I am running for re-election in State House District 46. Throughout my tenure at the Capitol, I've championed lower taxes, school choice, public safety, and other issues. It would be a privilege to earn your support again. #HD46#NoRhetoricJustResults
This should be the biggest story in America today. The progressives are not educating. They are indoctrinating and fueling antisemitism through public schools. The kids can't read or do math, but they can learn to hate the Jews.
On this day 293 years ago, James Oglethorpe arrived in Savannah and - along with 114 men, women, and children - laid the foundation for what would one day become the great State of Georgia!
As we celebrate Georgia Day, we honor the rich history of this beautiful land and look forward to the Peach State's exciting future.
It's always a pleasure to welcome Cherokee leadership to the House. It was wonderful to see Harry Johnston Commission Chairman, Geoff Morton, the County Manager, and Brantley Day, the Community Development Director.
