I’m incredibly honored to have been sworn in yesterday to represent Texas’s 18th congressional district, and to have my wife Kaitlyn by my side.
I stand on the incredible legacy built by this district, and today I’m ready to get to work.
In Houston, too many families have buried loved ones after years of living near polluting facilities that have been linked to higher rates of cancer and other serious health problems.
Today at the @ScienceDems hearing, I demanded answers about why the Trump Administration is dismantling the science that helps protect public health and hold polluters accountable.
Communities like mine cannot afford to have politics override science.
June is a time to celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community, but it is also a time to confront the hatred and violence that still exist. Last week, Houston lost Persia Amarra Conway. Far too many transgender people, especially Black trans women, face violence simply for being who they are. This Pride Month and every month, I will continue to stand with the LGBTQIA+ community.
The House just passed Democrats’ War Powers Resolution to end Trump’s illegal war with Iran. Trump started this conflict without a plan, and Republicans spent weeks blocking votes to stop it. After 85 days of an unauthorized conflict, today was a win for the American people. Now the Senate needs to do its part and pass it.
Republicans say they’re helping working families. Then they turn around and make it harder for those same families to get help when they need it most. If you're one bill, one paycheck, or one emergency away from falling behind, this week's Republican bills make life harder, not easier, for the American people.
Trump’s handpicked Supreme Court is making it harder for Black communities to have their voices heard at the ballot box. The Court is dragging our country backward and opening the door to the same kind of voter suppression seen during the Jim Crow era.
This is yet another attempt by Republicans to cling to power ahead of the midterm elections.
NAACP: “The Supreme Court continues to unleash chaos in our democratic process, and with this latest action, gives Alabama approval to use a congressional map that had previously been found to be intentionally discriminatory. This is a Court that is stripping Black voters of power and voice at a speed that would put Jim Crow jurists to shame”
Bill Pulte tried to use mortgage data to go after President Trump’s political opponents. Now Trump is putting him in charge of America’s intelligence agencies.
Intelligence experience - 0
Qualifications - 0
Another appointee who will be focused only on doing Trump’s bidding.
Breaking news: President Trump is appointing Bill Pulte as acting director of national intelligence, tapping a political supporter who heads a federal mortgage regulation agency but has no intelligence experience. https://t.co/zkHY2ouvbM
Happy Pride!
This Pride Month, I proudly stand with the LGBTQIA+ community. As a member of the @EqualityCaucus, I remain committed to advancing equal rights and fighting for fairness, dignity, and inclusion for everyone, not just in June, but every day of the year.
When I first learned about Trump’s slush fund for January 6 rioters and the President’s political allies, I took to the House floor because I was outraged, just as so many Texans were. This was a blatant misuse of taxpayer dollars, and I’m glad a judge stepped in, exercised common sense, and put a halt to it. https://t.co/cyanZHrl2Z
$1.7 BILLION for January 6 rioters, Trumps friends, insiders, and cronies.
But somehow there’s no money for childcare, healthcare, or helping working families pay their bills. Make it make sense.
The numbers don't lie. Because of Trump your gas, electricity bills, and grocery costs are rising.
All while Trump is focused on building a ballroom, spending weekends on the golf course, and putting a UFC fighting ring on White House grounds.
The American people deserve a President focused on bringing costs down not his own selfish interests.
GOOD LUCK, LOGAN! 🎉This sixth-grader from Houston is a finalist in the Scripps National Spelling Bee! We wish him all the best in tonight’s finals: https://t.co/D5Ds53kZCW
This is misinformation. I visited the Dilley Detention Center in Frio County, Texas, and witnessed firsthand the facility’s inhumane conditions. Despite ICE’s claim that detainees receive “world-class” care, people I spoke with described untreated wounds, serious medical problems, and food so poor and unsanitary it made families sick.
The facts are:
⭐All detainees are provided with 3 meals a day, clean water, clothing, bedding, showers, soap, and toiletries.
⭐Illegal aliens also have access to phones to communicate with their family members and lawyers.
⭐Certified dieticians evaluate meals.
⭐In fact, ICE has higher detention standards than most U.S. prisons that hold actual U.S. citizens.

As the proud son of two Coast Guard Veterans, I witnessed early on that freedom is not free. It’s earned through sacrifice, courage, and duty to this country.
Yesterday, I stood with veterans and families at Houston National Cemetery to honor the servicemembers who kept their promise to America and laid down their lives to defend our Nation.
Houston will never forget their sacrifice, and I remain dedicated to supporting the families they left behind.
In the wake of the Callais decision, Black political representation is under direct assault. Across the South, lawmakers are rushing to redraw congressional maps to dilute Black voting strength and roll back decades of progress secured through the Voting Rights Act.
Corporations that have benefited from Black consumers, Black workers, and Black communities cannot remain silent while Black political power is dismantled in plain sight.
When democracy is under attack, there is no neutral ground.

The right to vote is sacred. Election Day is today, and polls across Harris County are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Make your voice heard and make a plan to cast your ballot. https://t.co/cduqOtUbIY
This Memorial Day, we honor the heroes who gave their lives in defense of our nation. Let us honor them not just with words, but by living up to the responsibility of making this country worthy of their sacrifice.
Four years ago today, 19 beautiful children and 2 teachers were taken from us in a horrific act of gun violence in Uvalde. The tragedy sent shockwaves across the country, but the pain continues to be felt especially here in Texas. Today, we remember the beautiful lives lost and the futures that were taken far too soon.
