Research Systems Warwick-Monash PhD. Institutional Theory to Network Science. Seeking new perspectives on institution-network nexus from researchers/managers
Despite providing 5% of @GBIF's global observations, the ALA's research impact is greater than it seems...🧑🏼🔬🧫
New @UNSW research finds the ALA has supported > 9,000 authors & 2,406 scientific publications (to 2023). 63% are open-access!

The @WildlifeTrusts has acquired Skiddaw!
This landscape, which is treasured by so many, will see restoration of peatlands, woodlands and more.
Let there be no doubt, this is a milestone moment for nature restoration in @LakeDistrictNPA and beyond.

Incredibly proud to share this work, almost 6 years in the making, out in @ScienceMagazine!!! 🎇
We've known for over a century that eukaryotes of all kinds anticipate the seasons (think: hibernation, flowering, reproduction), but what about bacteria?🦠

@JennyTXDem@MeidasTouch Yes I agree that mansplaining to a lead prosecutor is a bit naive - it is literally her expertise to get beneath the facade of liars and to set out the facts.
This makes me feel so tired. The fossil fuel industry is sending people into the Texas Education Agency to distort how climate change appears in textbooks (as textbooks go in Texas, the largest textbook market, so do they go in the rest of the country).
They are EVERYWHERE.
‘These scientists have cut mice damage to wheat by 73% without killing a single animal or using a drop of poison. And scent trickery deployed to protect threatened native birds doubled the number of young fledgings born.’
Fabulous research!

Our civilisation is run by profit, not humans.
Within this context, human or any other biological life has zero value other than what it can raise when sold as scrap in the single-use necroeconomic consumaverse we’ve created #amwriting#capitalism#ecology
Our lab is looking for curious and creative PhD candidates from any area of biology, physics, chemistry. math, or computational science who are interested in figuring out how the brain produces social fear and aggression. Deadline: October 14. https://t.co/15Z2gfC03K
@KylieMcPhD Congratulations Kylie - your new employer is obviously brighter than the others prospects. I hope the path you take is full of great things!
“The ecosystem is not a supermarket. You don’t get to have whatever you want, whenever you want it. Yet this civilisation has stolen from nature and bankrupted this planet” #ecology

Tree planting and biodiversity offsets give the impression we can just create nature, or replace what we destroy. But we cannot
No technology can create a 500 yr old tree, the only thing that can is 500 yrs
Nature is irreplaceable, and we must treat it as such
I am looking for a new PhD student to work on an exciting remote sensing project using airborne hyperspectral imagery and machine learning/AI to find ancient trees in the rugged and remote Tasmanian landscape. More information here: https://t.co/oWHgrqrQZo
Truly historic. Jabiluka saved! Vindication for the astonishing perseverance of Mirarr Traditional Owners. A massive win for the World Heritage listed Kakadu environment. This decades long campaign by legions of Australians who cared about First People’s rights to having their country protected & healthy is finally won - a genuinely great day.

It's funny that we look back askance at how badly the suffragettes were treated by the law 100 years ago or civil rights protestors 60 years ago, while we do exactly the same thing to climate and human rights protestors today.
