Worth mentioning. Boomers were and Millennials are the largest generations in US history. When a big generation moves through the pipeline, it stands to reason that prices need to rise to incentivize new supply.
Let’s start with the fact that I am an unapologetic believer in the financial and societal benefits of homeownership.
And, my heart goes out to any family that is ready and willing but not able to buy a home today because of the costs.
However, for all the trolls that want to attack boomers as unfeeling, money grabbing narcissists who just got lucky they could buy a home 45 years ago, realize this…
They bought their first homes at the only time in almost 50 years that homes were LESS AFFORDABLE than they are today!
Just setting the record straight…
@conorsen "The Americans can always be trusted to do the right thing, once all other possibilities have been exhausted."
- Winston Churchill (but apparently he didn't actually say it).
@conorsen Maybe I've been watching too much House Of Cards, but that comment sounds very much like "Don't throw me in that briar patch." It sounds like he's daring the Dems to do it.
@pitdesi Colleague walked into my office after the alert, "so what do we do about this impending earthquake?"
Me: "I'm in a bldg on rollers, in an office with empty walls and no shelves, on a chair with wheels. It is not possible to be safer in an earthquake than I am right now."
61% of ADUs are built for multigenerational households.
Legalizing ADUs nationwide is one of the easiest pro-family policies we could enact today.

@emissionite@21five_public Transit is a no-brainer. The Bay Area needs a regional transit authority that has complete dictatorial control over BART, Caltrain, muni, traffic/taxi/Uber regs, etc. It should be a small board, directly elected by voters on a regular cycle.
@PhilWalkable @the_transit_guy It may vary by county or home, so perhaps I'm missing something, and FL does indeed have high prop taxes (at 1.5% or so), but unless NJ is one of the states that does not reassess on transfer of ownership, I still think this trade has a net cost.
@FairweatherPhD I hear you. I was saying I would not bet that these bills add a ton of new housing supply in SF any time soon, b/c w/ today's interest rates, the cost of labor, and the various fees charged to landlords, most apartment development still doesn't work.
@bostongeorgeohh 150k turns for what weight/height of skier? I'm guessing Bode puts more force on a shell than a 110 lb female, even a super aggressive one.
