23 days since @dbongino exposed Tucker Carlson for falsely claiming Bongino texted him, while deputy director of the FBI, that Trump had stopped the Butler investigation - backing it up with receipts of their actual texts.

4 days since Bongino gave Tucker permission to release every single text between them after Tucker claimed Bongino was the one preserving the messages, but that Tucker "didn't want to" release them - despite previously pointing to those texts as evidence for his original allegation.

I'm sure Tucker is hoping this will just blow over. Because it appears he made the whole thing up - and has now been completely called out.

Here's a history lesson.

This nation was founded on Protestantism. That isn't in dispute. Almost every state had a religious test for officeholding, and they largely required the officeholder to be Protestant. Schools required the reading of KJV, which was seen as an anti-Catholic slight. Alexis de Tocqueville wrote at length on how the United States was founded on Protestant ideology.

What changed? Catholics participated in civic life the way the Founding Fathers intended. They built their own schools and other parallel institutions, and voted in different office requirements. In short, Catholics proved themselves capable of being American, and they got full admission as a result.

The same pattern repeated with every group. Jews, Irish Catholics, Eastern Europeans... all initially excluded, all earned their place the same way: civic participation, institution-building, proving they could sustain self-governance. That's the American model. It's civilizational. Can you build institutions? Can you govern yourself? Can you participate in the republic?

No one steeped in the actual Protestant founding tradition would arrive at "white identity" as the organizing principle because the founding was organized around covenantal self-governance and distrust of centralized government.

Two weeks ago we moved our family from California to Tennessee, and today confirmed everything we hoped for.

We watched our new community’s Fourth of July parade and ran the neighborhood 5k this morning, and tonight there’s a fireworks show, all without leaving the neighborhood. The kids on our street already pulled our two boys into their bike club. Neighbors met the moving truck and helped unload before we even arrived. We’re buying meat and cheese from a farm fifteen minutes from our house.

We came here for the community, and for a place built for raising a family instead of one that seems to punish you for it. We loved California, but every year felt like paying a tax for having kids, wanting safe streets, and trying to run a small business, even with family nearby to help.

Today I’m grateful to live in a country where you can pack up and choose a different life, and where the people who live there actually want you to have it.

This country is great, and I’ll never stop being grateful for it.
