The elimination of said imports via tariffs (while the US is near full employment)=a massive negative supply shock akin to a massive crop failure. It's a self-inflicted massively regressive one time reduction in consumption/standard of living that likewise benefits rest of world.

Tariffs are a tax.
The $ to pay taxes comes from gov spending.
But Gov spending is being cut.
This shifts the economy to 'default' mode
characterized by declining tax revenues from slowing sales/employment along with rising transfer payments= increased deficit spending.

Economic stability is full employment with price stability, not fiscal deficits to GDP below three percent and public debt to GDP below 60 percent.

For the last few years, forecasters grossly undervalued the role of the real gov deficit spending supporting output/employment/etc. as well as the current policy reversals that are rapidly going the other way and can rapidly pull the rug out from aggregate demand.
