@lonemezzala Yeah, the back-to-back low league finishes have also made me think that maybe letting some of these players go could be the right move.
But I just can’t help but feel that we’re still letting go of some talented players who haven’t yet reached their peak. It’s a tricky one
Players like Vuskovic and Bergvall have huge potential and could develop into a calibre of player that we, as a club, likely wouldn't be able to buy outright.
I suppose if we somehow sign Tonali or Fernandes (highly unlikely), maybe I won't feel quite so bad about this
I know we need to massively trim the squad, and there are definitely plenty of areas to upgrade, but it doesn’t sit right with me that two of our talented youngsters are likely heading out.
Bergvall, like much of the team, had injuries that derailed his season, last year.
🚨 EXCL: Lucas Bergvall informs Tottenham Hotspur of preference to seek new challenge elsewhere. 20yo midfielder targeted by clubs in PL + Europe & #THFC aware of wish to leave this summer for fresh start. #Sweden int’l contracted until 2031 @TheAthleticFC https://t.co/UHOHwVgN7U
I’m generally confused by the thought process behind Vuskovic, or whether this is being driven by his agent. Does he see it as a sign of disrespect that we want to loan him out again? Does he think we don’t want him? It all just seems so odd. Take the money and be done with it
🚨💣 Luka Vušković on the Brighton rumours:
“I’m focused on the World Cup at the moment, but my goal is to have a season at the club in which I’ll play, where they want me, and we will see what happens in the coming days/weeks,” Vušković told HRT.
I might be nit-picking, but with Van Hecke it sometimes feels like he doesn’t put that extra bit of effort into his defending. Maybe I’m reading too much into his body language, but for how good he is on the ball, I need to see much more from him defensively
De Zerbi joins a team that’s broken their all time losing streak record. 16 games winless. He then loses Xavi Simons, Romero, Solanke and Kudus on top of an already unbelievable injury crisis.
What an incredible recovery. Thank you De Zerbi.
“Now we need to complete the squad with the first level of players because I suffered too much but so did the players, the board and the fans and we can't suffer like this as Tottenham Hotspur.”
De Zerbi knows. Everyone does. Enic pay attention.
I’m so glad we avoided relegation so I can let all my thoughts out. The refereeing standard in this league is an absolute disgrace. Choosing to make decisions based on the “entertainment” factor rather than the actual rules is why we all have issues with it.
The decisions when you watch the Tottenham games, and the data, all point towards it being true.
It’s not necessarily that the refs have an issue with Tottenham, but seeing Tottenham go down or having to fight until the very end is extremely entertaining for the league
🚨🎙️ Roberto De Zerbi has issued a rallying cry ahead of the run-in for #thfc. 🤍
"Listen, I want to be clear one time. The most important challenge now is to silence the voice inside of us, inside of the players, the staff, the fans.
“This voice produces negative thoughts and the voice says we are unlucky, we have too many injuries. We lost Xavi Simons and he was one of the most important players for us in the past two games. Our medical staff is not good enough, our stadium pitch is not good enough, our training pitch is not good enough. Winning two or three games in a row no because we hadn't won a game in 2026. It's all negative things and it's rubbish. I want to keep the focus on myself and the quality of my players.
“We go to play one of the best teams in the Premier League at the moment but if Tottenham win at Villa Park it's not a miracle. Maybe we lose but we have the quality to win this game. We have to be positive because we are lucky to work in a big club.
“If Xavi and Solanke are injured we can play with Kolo Muani, Tel, Richarlison. These are not bad players. We have Porro, Van de Ven, Udogie (lists a lot of other fit players). I don't have too much time to hear these things.
"It's like we're all crying and relegated. No, not yet. We have to die on the pitch and it's two points [above]. It's not the best moment, it's a tough moment, but the losers cry. They think negatively. I don't want people close to me crying and thinking in a different way to me.
“We are good enough to win the games and we good enough to stay up. Then we will see. It's the unique way I know, to work hard, give my best."
De Zerbi-ball in full flow for much of that game.
I don’t care what anybody says, for Spurs to play with that level of intensity, commitment, togetherness, and bravery to execute a phenomenally coached tactical system with & without the ball deserves HUGE credit.
More tomorrow.
The Premier League's key match incidents panel has ruled Brian Brobbey should have been sent off in Spurs' defeat at Sunderland. As per @DaleJohnsonBBC, the panel voted 3:2 that referee Rob Jones made a mistake with "a two-handed push which is an unnecessarily reckless action".
This season has (rightfully) been defined by poor #Tottenham performances, but the officiating against Spurs has been nothing short of abhorrent. I genuinely can’t remember the last fair call—it honestly feels like they’re trying to send us down.
