You have no idea how bleak it is to be surrounded by true poverty of mind.
I just came back from a family celebration with some distant relatives. You can't even "talk" to them, because they don't process what you say, they just react. Their brain just picks a word from your sentence and associates a personal experience with it. Mostly it's something they complain about, like personal health problems or loud neighbours - things that a person they just met can't possibly take interest in.
Besides complaints, the second biggest category is bragging, mostly about petty things. Like how they once ripped someone off for 20€. They also all know some irresponsible mother who beat their kids or gave them fetal alcohol syndrome. For them, that's the line where bad parenting starts, so they love to mention it.
Lastly, they love to repeat truisms like "money can't buy character", act like they've said something profound, and expect praise for the insight.
Something worrisome I have noticed about AI, whether GPT or Claude, is that, when asked to evaluate a text, it really exploits the author’s own intellectual honesty.
Prudence, caveats, and so on are used by AI to identify weaknesses and dig into them.
If academic referees use AI, this could be counterproductive.
The tragedy here is that the drift in immigration policy over the last three decades was driven more by jurisprudence and cultural changes than legislation. So when you talk to policy makers they are sincerely baffled and bereft of levers that don't cross "rights" or moral lines
It’s affordability, stupid.
89% of voters for the AfD in Saxony-Anhalt say they are worried that prices rise so much that they can’t pay their bills.
In fact, food prices are up 34.7% since 2021. Wages are lacking far behind & only rose 14.8%.
We need Anti-fascist Economics.
It’s important to remember that the people who post without capital letters think that they’re better than you, and not bound by standard written conventions.
