@MelMitchell1 Thank you for this! I now better understand your reluctance to answer in a brief Q&A. The nuance would have been hard to convey. What could be the “right metaphors?” It certainly seems we need at least a few to create a broader analytic framework.
@macastel3@FreightAlley Another example of supply-side inflation where interest rates are not relevant. If anything lower rates could accelerate the capacity increase needed to soften the supply constraint. @IrvingSwisher
.@IrvingSwisher@JasonBordoff today’s Dealbook with a great intersection of your work. Global resource moves with direct implications for domestic inflation and rates/economy. Higher rates harm energy transition given cost of capital implications. Long-term ET should de-link.
@davealevine@LangReynolds Don’t agree that three minutes is needed or even advised. Twice as fast would be nice and exists. But the biggest thing is this was the first trip to a fueling station in a year for a two car family. #rangecertainty
@TimMLatimer@EggersMatt At this time in the cycle, the complexity can come from prior overpriced rounds, strategic partners in unpriced bridges and other exigencies of past fundings. Structure may not be better than just cleaning it all up, but that requires a collective agreement that can be hard.
When we look for oil, we find oil. When we look for gas, we find gas. Yet my timeline is full of oil and gas folk (or bots) who think we won't find lithium even if we look for it. Strange.

@TimMLatimer Agreed. I am trying to be better able to articulate the aggregate scope of our extractive industries such that this challenge is understood as a significant shift in what and where we extract vs a massive scale up of specific items.
@TimMLatimer Have you seen any stats on what percentage of oil and gas extraction spending would need to shift to cover these shortfalls? Is it extract more from the planet or extract different?
@LangReynolds Ideally EPA reduces the per bus grant going forward to deliver more buses. “Free” is not the best price to deliver maximum outcomes across the value chain. @JustinGerdes
@drvolts Similarly the security implications of disruption in mineral supply means you interrupt EV manufacturing but do not disrupt the ability to drive (which happens with oil disruptions). One creates capital stock. The other is a constant flow.
Absolutely thrilled to share that after a tremendous 9 years leading @RockyMtnInst climate champion, energy transition leader and longtime friend and collaborator @JulesKortenhors has chosen to join Vision Ridge as a Partner.

Today the @RockyMtnInst board announced that I have been selected to be its next CEO, starting Nov 1st. I am honored, and I hope to carry on the great traditions of @AmoryLovins & @JulesKortenhors, giving the world some of what we all need at this moment: applied hope.
