Talks in #anglicantwitter and #smallchildrentwitter. Lurks in medieval/ literature/ architecture/ knitting twitter. Precentor @ChChCathedralOx. She/her.
I have become A Person Who Writes Hymns. And a Person With A Blog. Where I am putting the hymns. Anyone very welcome to sing them if they want! https://t.co/4VISegsaPK
@MadsDavies He is framing it as 'all views of religious people are informed only by religion therefore have no relevance to me as a secular person.' there are at least two problems with that, even before we get to the logical fallacy of assuming his views are not conditioned by his beliefs.
@AliCampbell_68@MadsDavies@seatrout I'm not denying this! Nor am I saying that we shouldn't have that responsibility. I think I'm just uneasy that the message is 'you are not an expert, trust the structures' when the structures are clearly so problematic, but I remain not an expert.
@AliCampbell_68@MadsDavies@seatrout Perhaps it's a matter of emphasis. The emphasis in my training has been to refer onwards, leave it to the professionals, not to investigate. That's not incompatible with reporting things directly to police/ scl services if not satisfied, of course.
@MadsDavies@seatrout This is what is worrying me. The message in safeguarding training for clergy is 'do not investigate, delegate upwards, diocesan safeguarding structures will take over.' If we can't trust those structures, but we must not do anything else, where does that leave us?
@alicelydiajoy Quite a lot of Anglican twitter is on the blue one. I don't get the same sense of wandering into the Jesus Arms and joining in conversations that I did on here in its heyday.
@jamesjroach@oldenoughtosay Entirely unsimilar to Madeline but similar to James - my daughter was born with a caul, and the midwives were all super excited because they'd never seen one before!
Being a Precentor is a rich and exciting ministry. The network of Precentors is one of the most supportive groups to which I have ever belonged. Might you be the next Canon Precentor of Carlisle?
This is the house which holy Frideswide founded, strong in God's peace, unshaken, unafraid; choosing a life of prayer, of loving service, she taught God's truth and brought God's gracious aid.
Today, we celebrate the feast of Oxford's patron saint, Frideswide. Join us at 6.05 pm for a festal Choral Eucharist to honour the legacy of the teacher, healer and leader at the beginning of Oxford and Christ Church's story.
