MAYASURA WROTE SURYA SIDDHANTA ON 22 FEB 6778 BCE (-6778), 8800 YEARS AGO

22 FEB 6778 BCE IS A SHEET ANCHOR DATE FOR ARCHAEOASTRONOMICAL STUDIES

According to Surya Siddhanta, Mayasura observed a rare conjunction of the Sun, Moon and all planets except their nodes and apsides were in conjunction in Aries (Mesha) on new moon day of Chaitra month at the end of the 28th Kṛta Yuga.

Software simulations using the JPL Horizons Ephemeris System establish that such conjunction on Chaitra Shukla Pratipada occurred only once in the last 16000 years, i.e., on 22 Feb -6778. Evidently, Mayasura had personally observed this conjunction in -6778 and referred to this conjunction as an epoch for his Surya Siddhanta.

In the 57th verse of Chapter 1, “Meshādau” means that Sun was in the first degree of Aries and “Madhyagatāh” means Sun was in the middle of this conjunction of planets. The simulation shows that Venus, Saturn and Moon were located east of the Sun whereas Mercury, Mars and Jupiter were located west of the Sun. The Sun was in the first degree of Aries and in the middle of this 26-degree conjunction of all planets. The conjunction perfectly matches with the description given in the Surya Siddhanta. This rare conjunction occurred only once in the last 16000 years. This establishes that Mayasura wrote Surya Siddhanta in 6778 BCE and the calendar of Surya Siddhanta completes 8800 years in the year 2022.

Life is short. Power is ephemeral. Physical beauty is short-lived, I have seen it in lions. I have seen it in old people. Everyone who lives long enough will become weak and very vulnerable at some point.

Therefore, let us be humble. Help the sick, the weak, the vulnerable and most importantly never forget that we will leave the stage one day.

In some oil mills in India, bullocks are used that go round and round to grind the oil-seed. There is a yoke on the bullock’s neck. They have a piece of wood protruding from the yoke, and on that is fastened a wisp of straw. The bullock is blindfolded in such a way that it can only look forward, and so it stretches its neck to get at the straw; and in doing so, it pushes the piece of wood out a little further; and it makes another attempt with the same result, and yet another, and so on. It never catches the straw, but goes round and round in the hope of getting it, and in so doing, grinds out the oil.

In the same way you and I who are born slaves to nature, money and wealth, wives and children, are always chasing a wisp of straw, a mere chimera, and are going through an innumerable round of lives without obtaining what we seek.
