Some very wealthy people are arguing it’s unfair to close inheritance tax loopholes because they bought farmland specifically to avoid inheritance tax. What’s odd is that they’re making that case *out-loud*. And seem to think it’s an argument that will provoke sympathy.
'They've donated $17 million to the Republicans...by contrast, they've donated $960 to Kamala Harris.'
Donald Trump's campaigns have received $45 million from Tufton Street donors. @PeterKGeoghegan breaks down some of the figures for @mrjamesob.
To those who support Trump…
Forget the fascism or the economic illiteracy
You’re essentially announcing to the world
To your partners, friends, kids & colleagues…
That you think it’s ok for men to sexually assault women
…and there is absolutely no hiding from that.
Telling a Judge that the defendant didn’t do anything wrong when he broke the law because the law was a bad one is not a good idea especially if the defendant had actually made that law in the first place.
Yup the #Conservatives remain unfit for office
If you work backwards from the GE, it feels like there was a period of 6-12 months when the Tories knew in their heart of hearts that there was no way they'd win, and set about burning everything on the way out to make what would have been a difficult job for Labour impossible.
And Labour helped them by proclaiming to all and sundry that they had a plan, knew exactly what they were doing, etc. etc. Only to enter office, glance around at the devastation, and be forced to immediately change their tune in humiliating fashion. Thus giving the Tories all the ammo they needed to claim Labour can't be trusted.
Badenoch tells #BBCLauraK that Johnson was a great prime minister, that partygate was “overblown”, that it was the rules that were the problem and that the Tories will vote against investing £22Bn in the NHS

“Renewal” - not happening
Arrogance - off the scale.
@MattGertz @jologart his campaign vetted the jokes and removed a couple of them because one of them called the vice president the C word. And then they loaded them into the Teleprompter. This was an approved message.
A Texas teen tested positive for sepsis, but was cleared to leave because her fetus still had a heartbeat.
She got worse, but they insisted on 2 ultrasounds before treatment.
She died hours later.
If you have daughters in TX, vote for Allred & Harris. Their lives depend on it.
BREAKING: The Guardian picked up the story on Trump’s deep ties with Epstein after my post went viral less than 24 hours ago.
American media has had this for weeks and stayed silent.
Once again, legacy outlets are failing us.
Recordings from 2017 reveal Epstein talking for ‘100 hours’ about Trump, per journalist Michael Wolff.
🚨 BREAKING:
Wow. This heart-rending ad, when tested, moves swing-state men 2.5 points away from Trump.

The Telegraph, which repeatedly insists that "foreign courts" stop telling us what to do, is now telling us to listen to foreign billionaires telling us what to do.
Single most important graphic to share with MAGA:
Here are the words of 8 of Trumps top Generals.
Please tell me one good reason why we should take the words of the convicted felon who was found liable for FRAUD, over some of the most respectable men from his own time in the White House.

Paul Johnson, on farmers being impacted by inheritance tax change: “The complaints are massively overdone. This affects a very small number of farms each year. They’re still going to be better treated than anyone else in terms of inheritance tax”

Welcome to the topsy-turvy world of farm lobbying... 🙃
"Small farms will be broken up and they'll all be bought by big landowners, this is the end of farming as we know it."
Reality:
🤫big landowners* currently buying up farmland because they get unlimited IHT relief
😩 pushing up prices for everyone else including small tenant farmers who want to buy
🧐 actual small farms unaffected by this reform because £3m farm still pays no IHT in practice
Capping IHT relief is part of the solution for small farms, not the problem!
Under Labour plans 73% of farms won’t pay any inheritance tax at all, the smallest farms will be protected and those that do pay will have ten years to pay it.
The bleating you hear is very rich people being asked to cough up a bit of money - when they die - maybe.
Sarah Jones: I also agree with the former Chancellor, Kwasi Kwarteng, who said yesterday:
" Conservatives, like myself, should be honest, Reeves is clearing up our mess."
As a reminder,
The US has had 46 presidents. Among them, there have been 91 criminal felony charges indicted. Those charges are distributed among the presidents as in the following list:

@LeopardmanPn@RockyWasYer@MatthewStadlen Would that be the one where the decision to go to war was put to the MPs to vote on and where some members of the then Labour government voted against but all the Conservatives voted for…
