My landlord raised my rent $200 and called it a “market adjustment.”
I asked what changed in the market.
He said property values went up.
I asked if my paycheck went up too.
He said that’s not really his concern.
It’s only the market when it benefits him.

My friend bought a house in 2020 at 2.9% interest.
Locked in forever.
His mortgage is $1,450 a month.
Same house today would cost him $3,100 a month at current rates.
He can’t move. Can’t upsize. Can’t relocate for a better job.
The rate that saved him also trapped him.
Golden handcuffs nobody warned him about.
American bought his home and the monthly mortgage payment has been $3,741.72
His property tax just got reassessed and has been sent his new monthly bill in the mail
His payment is now $4,536 per month because of the property tax increase
“This is how people aren't able to stay in their houses forever and lose their houses. Crazy”
This should be federally illegally. Property tax increases are such a scam and straight extortion
