@Schwalm5132@TheBaconFather You mean like the old firefighter joke: How can you tell someone is a firefighter? You don't have to- they'll tell you themselves π
@ChuckPfarrer@TheReconCast I carried a 4" 686 for the first two years on the job. At 22 yoa, that gun weighed about half as much as I did. It was a hefty beast (and I'm not talking about me...lol).
@Schwalm5132 I hear ya. Born and raised in IL, and I'll likely die here. Would love to move to a more red southern state, but my roots are too deep here with family. I've had to settle with regular visits to states with more sanity.
@Schwalm5132 If you keep watering whiskey down, it eventually ceases being whiskey. Same with education. ("Class" of '68 myself, and this "scale" is an abomination.)
@Schwalm5132 The whole under-the-desk thing was only to get you to curl up in a ball so you'd be better able to kiss your arse goodbye. (And scare the sh*t out of an already nervous grade schooler.) Ah, those were the days... π³
@RealJamesWoods The problem is it's Chi-raq. If you legitimately shoot the dude, even with clear articulation of a perceived threat, and in the presence of irrefutable evidence of said threat, you're likely the one going to jail. Best bet is to avoid the city at all costs.
@TonySeruga@elonmusk This officer did exactly what he was supposed to do being confronted and charged at by a man armed with an edged weapon. GTF away. A knife can be much more lethal than a handgun at close range. There is almost no such thing as a "one shot stop".

I wasn't military; 28 years LE. Been working through this since retirement 8 years ago. Right on π
@ChuckPfarrer@benmcbean One of my favorite pics. Currently reading Rogue Heroes by Ben Macintyre; after having watched the series on MGM+ (quite entertaining). (Also read your book many moons ago.)
