Ilya Rozanov just wanted to get off the Kaaxium mining colony that had been his prison since the Earth broke. Turns out deep-space has raiders, cash bounties, advanced alien technology, and masked super-soldiers who learned their social skills from a toaster.

People like to virtue signal w this book as if it’s a race fetish series as set in a world with OUR historical context, which it’s NOT. It would be more closely similar to classic Greek epics like the Iliad or the Odyssey. No one callsout Achilles for his slaves, do they?
This is always what I wanna say when people criticize the dynamic in book 1… because Laurent is not acting the way he does because Damen’s his slave- it’s cuz he knows exactly who Damen is: Auguste’s killer and Akielos’s #1 slave OWNER
i think it was so important in captive prince that damen thought that way about slavery in akielos because the person who showed him a different perspective was his captor, who was his enemy and the antagonist that tried to kill him +
Damen goes through his own journey of realizing what it means to be truly free (and understanding how Laurent is imprisoned in his own way), and why Akielos is wrong for its practice of slavery… and Pacat wrote it sooo well
@valentinavoight I understand what you’re saying but I want you to know that the grammar in this sentence makes no sense. So I/maleficent would be the new king? No. Correct: -later he betrays you & cuts off ur wings as a gift to the old king before he dies so that he can become the new king.
@Feldfrog People don’t talk about it much but he also sang it in the Spanish version and it’s phenomenal. The lyrics are lovely, his pronounciation is on point… my Latino parents love it
