the changed they made cut a lot of meat off, and while that gave us a lot of insight on things that were implied and gave new perspective to character motivations, it came at a cost of the friendship team avatar has

overall i had an amazing time and i loved all the references to the comics and korra that they had. the mother of faces mention made me gasp like crazy! i can’t wait for season 2 when toph arrives. i’m hoping she will be the secret to showing team avatar’s chemistry

seeing azula, ty lee, and mai this early was so cool! they look amazing! i love what they’re preparing for azula, but i’m worried how drastic the difference in her motivation will impact season 2 since she has in mind that it’s all a game

that being said, whoever wrote this is a huge zuko fan. there is so much here that breathes life into zuko’s already incredible story and, while i adore it so much, it started to feel like it was zuko who was the main character instead of aang at the latter half of the show

aang’s arc was completely taken out and he’s a regretful, sad, scared boy rather than a fun-loving, spirited kid. katara is strong and powerful, but the fact that we didn’t get to see how her waterbending develops over time is such a disservice. sokka is basically diet sokka
