Wait, what’s happening? Now Labor are potentially going back on A LOT of their tax changes for a specialised group of businesses? Am I reading this right?
Are they now trying to botch the already botched tax policy to make it possible for “start ups” to be exempt and still use John Howard’s tax policy?
If so, this is spitting in the face of 99% of Australians who run small businesses and reinforce that businesses do NEED a favourable tax environment and aligned government to feel supported…
Christ, this is getting ridiculous!
Just because a nepo baby went to a private school and got funded by daddy and his mates to start some speculative company doesn’t make the business any better than the millions of Australians who toil every day at a fish and chip shop, run a lawn mowing business, build a local gym, operate a carpentry business or have an online store.
Just please STOP hitting Australians with harmful taxes @AlboMP and @JEChalmers … and start encouraging us to be great and solve problems! We all need your support, not punishment.
Use the $10b housing fund for startups if you really want.
Or just don’t do either and let the Australians work out a more efficient solution to both.
Rewind the taxes and give us a way forward.
