I finally put my finger on it all.
Maybe I’m the only one… but I’m overwhelmed with a “the buck needs to stop here” feeling.
I’m a huge Stargate fan, but I’m also a SciFi Fantasy nerd in general.
And I just feel like so many major IPs, that I dearly love, have been greatly mishandled by studios & executives of late.
Yet here was this shining opportunity. Green lighting the new Gero led return of Stargate got my hopes up. Giddy even. With Brad Wright and Joe Mallozzi on board too?!
Then the “rug pulled out from under us feeling” was bad enough… but the reported reasoning for the decision?! Just didn’t make sense. Based on what the creatives involved with the project had said in their interview re: taking great care to have broad appeal to newcomers while respecting what came before.
So enough. Line in the sand.
I wanna show them how wrong they are. Not by being a jerk… but by being consistent and rallying with this wonderful SG community. This family.
I’m dug in & ready for the long haul.
Because my heart just can’t take another hit to a beloved franchise.

Throughout my career, I've been dismayed by the contempt some genre executives have held for fans, routinely underestimating their power to make or break a show. I've watched this repeat too many times, across too many shows, to be talking about any single one of them. Yet despite the mounting evidence over the past few years, they continue to dismiss the data, repeating the same miscalculations time and again.
But technology has rewritten the rules, and the power dynamics are shifting. Today’s fans are organized, strategic, and highly data-literate - effectively turning the platforms' own metrics against them.
As the bets get bigger and the audience grows sharper, it will be fascinating to see how this plays out.
@stevendeknight The first 2 episodes were great, great to see @RealLucyLawless back, all the feels. That bloke at the end of ep 2 will stay in many men’s memories, ouch! #Spartacus
All of your burning Stargate questions...deftly sidestepped!
The news broke last week and the response has been huge. Not bad for a franchise that aired it’s last episode 14 year ago. The fans, of course, had a lot to say. There was excitement, jubilation, relief, cautious optimism, certain trepidation and, naturally, questions. Lots and lots of questions. Where will the series shoot? Will we see any familiar faces? Are we going to find out what happened to Destiny and Atlantis? Does the Goa’uld hand device work for left-handed people too? Well today, I’d like to address these questions by telling you I am unable to address any of these questions. For a few reasons.
First, word of the new series just broke last week and I’d like to allow the revelation to settle for a little while. Savor the news as one would the decanted essence of a 2011 Leroy Musigny Grand Cru, that peacock-tail of purple flowers, rose petals, and wild strawberry kawooshing across the tongue and disintegrating on the palette like the third shot from a zat. Let’s appreciate the enlightening fullness of the moment.
Second, there will be plenty to reveal, and this is something series creator Martin Gero very much wants to do…in time. We have a long runway between now and the premiere, so rather than front load all the details off the top, I think it makes more sense to reveal information over time in a consistent and gradual build as we progress through prep, production and post. As Martin said, he doesn’t just want to make this announcement and then go dark for months on end. He wants the fans to be informed in a way that makes them feel like they are part of the process in as close to real time as possible.
Third, this is Martin Gero’s show, both literally and figuratively, so he’s going to be leading the charge here. He’s earned that right – and also is in the best position to coordinate with Amazon and the various media outlets. Of course that’s not to say you can’t rely on me for my trademark behind-the-scenes photos, videos and insights on everything from writers’ room lunches and wardrobe fitting mishaps to disoriented accounts of getting lost in the woods during location scouts or reports of anxious producers visiting set for the first time and inadvertently walking off the edge of a ship set to face plant on the studio floor while main unit is rolling in the adjacent infirmary set. All good stuff that we will get to. Eventually.
Fourth, we’re in the very early stages, so there’s not a huge amount to reveal that I wouldn’t classify as spoilers. But as things ramp up, I guarantee that more information will be made available in an increasingly fast and furious pace. You will be one of the most dialed-in fandoms in sci-fi history.
Fifth, I honestly have no idea whether or not a Goa’uld hand device works for left-handed people too? I mean, I assume it does. Why wouldn’t it? What do you think?
@GateWorld I wonder how the #SGU finale will be handled, mentioned at first and then maybe some episodes to show us down the line, can’t wait…#Stargate
