There is a lot being written about the stylistic tells of AI writing (em-dashes, etc.) but this paper looks at AI narrative tells
Fascinating differences between AI & human narrative, and asking AI to write in different styles doesn't do much to change it https://t.co/azkRHz34NQ
I left a comment on a chess video which had GMDN, saying "wow, I have to slow down to appreciate all the tactics".
Some dweeb replied "he was accused of cheating".
I liked the clip that went around after his death, where the besmirched HN is playing GMDN. "How is he so good?!"
Reading again. Just had a bender with 10 books from the same author, an author I’d read a book from before. Utterly fantastic,
Now trying new author. Book seems less smooth. But, the protagonist is awkward, so checks out. The book is quite sincere.
@purplcabbage@olivertraldi Right. Thoughtful use of an LLM would be fine. But thoughtless use is “slop”.
Trouble is, if it smells like it’s from an LLM, … that typically indicates lack of thought, right? (Else, why not just write out in your own words)
Thinking out loud, but I kinda wonder if effective programming with LLM assistance involves front loading all the “pain”.
With programming by hand, you realise the broken assumptions as you run into them. If the LLM is writing all the code, you’ll get burned by “looks good to me”
Neat
Using nix shebangs, you can embed a script's dependencies;
and this is compatible with using comment preamble in other tools (e.g. rust-script).
