I don’t have a large following and do not really expect that this will be shared, reposted, or even seen. It’s just me venting a bit to get it off my own chest and hoping that @united will do better in the future. 🧳

Why people don’t check their bags on airlines…
Friday morning took a flight from MCO-IAD-ROA. In MCO the made an announcement of a full flight and asked for volunteers to check their bags. I never take them up on this offer but this time I did. Mistake! (Story continues in feed)
As you can see in the pictures I have a hard shell luggage. When I got home I found that even my metal water bottle that was in my luggage was dented in the handling. Pretty sure nothing about this is “normal wear and tear”.
After a few more moments she reappeared to tell me the manager said the same thing, but to take a picture of my luggage and the code on the tag. She asked me for no other info and repeated the policy of “normal” wear and tear.
I mentioned it was not only the zipper, as you can see, the corner reinforcement is also completely ripped out as well. She then repeated the same policy but said she would check with her manager.
Then an agent suddenly appeared so I went to the counter. Surely I would have more success speaking to a live person. (Not so much) She barely acknowledged me standing there, then listened with a (are you seriously bothering me with this) expression and repeated the same policy
When I explained my bag was only 2 weeks old so not sure how it was “normal” wear and tear, we were suddenly playing the “…are you there? Hello?…”game.
I explained the situation to them and after a few minutes of research they told me it was not their policy to cover broken zippers, this is considered normal wear and tear.
I tried to go to the ticket counter (no agent) so tried to use the QR code to connect to a remote agent. They could not connect for a video call so we needed to use the chat.
It was not as smooth for my luggage as it was for me. Upon arriving in ROA I found my luggage with a missing corner reinforcement, the screws completely ripped out, a missing slider and the chain busted open.
How do you lay the foundation🧱for your Business Transformation? True, the materials you choose will have a huge impact, but if the base is not solid, it won’t stand. Your processes are that base.
