Tuesday, I had the opportunity to travel to Brownsville in the Rio Grande Valley Sector alongside Troy Edgar, Secretary of the United States Department of Homeland Security, and Jason E. Schneider of the United States Border Patrol we observed firsthand the continued transformation taking place along our nation’s southern border.

During our visit, we saw newly deployed border security infrastructure spanning both the land and water domains — including advanced surveillance technology, maritime buoy barriers, and reinforced primary wall construction. All made possible because Trump 47 and the leadership at CBP, matched with Congress recognizing and filling critical funding gaps. These investments represent a significant commitment to strengthening operational control and ensuring our dedicated frontline personnel have the tools necessary to secure the border.

Thank you Senate Republicans for passing the Budget Reconciliation Bill last week that will give Border Patrol and ICE stable funding for the next three years.  You cannot continue to secure the border without funding, and we are already 8 months into the fiscal year with no prospect that the Democrats were willing to compromise.  It is regrettable it came to this, but we appreciate the Senators who did the right thing by voting for this legislation.  Next comes the House, and we urge all House Members to vote for the bill.  Let’s get this on the President’s desk as soon as possible!

President Trump scored a major win overnight as the Senate voted to pass his $70 billion ICE and Border Patrol funding package.

The funding covers ICE and Border Patrol’s budgets for the next three and a half years, closing the standoff that began during the longest shutdown in U.S. history.

Senator Lisa Murkowski was the only Republican to vote against the measure, which now heads to the House, where lawmakers will decide whether to send it to President Trump's desk.
