Naturopath, herbalist, strangely fond of green juices, educator, dreadful at diets and teaches people to avoid them. Statistically innumerate but hopeful...
So looking forward to hosting this event Monday! Daylesford Discusses: Wellness for a world that never switches off | https://t.co/Oh43pnryIy via @daylesfordfarm
I am told that as a non-scientist I have no business reading scientific papers on food & that I should 'ask a botanist'. So I did ask a plant scientist. And he replied 'Davis is the classic article' (the 2004 article finding mineral nutrient decreases in US vegetables)...
Have nutrients in vegetables and other crops declined over the past 50 plus years? This idea has been fiercely attacked on here in recent days. And yet in the scientific literature, there is strong evidence that this decline has happened, at least for some crops... (thread)
@_vinette @WhoresofYore Halfway through the series and @_vinette is BRILLIANT in it also loving seeing a more historically ACURATE portrayal of London for once
Australia. This is the road between Canberra and the Coast I think yesterday. The idea that it is somehow not right 'to talk about #ClimateChange at this difficult time' is frankly convenient bulllshit. Click on image to see what life is like now for the #firefighters .
I've always wanted to run a big public campaign about #soil
And I mean one with no jargon and that reaches beyond my lovely Twitter followers
The #Bees campaign we ran @friends_earth did that for pollinators and ecosystem function
How best to do it for #soil I wonder?
I’m so so sorry to read this and I will be traveling with my eyes more open. Here’s to good people all over London stepping up when we see this ugliness. I wish things were better
If you read this and you see anything similar happening while out in public, please consider being an active bystander, checking in with the person you see being targeted. We have to look out for each other.
Oh dear - fads? I can’t count the number of people who finally fell well and have excellent bloods back who are scolded like children for following a healing program. Not good enough. Outdated Damaging
Veg rejected by supermarkets destined for cattle feed on a friends farm. If we stop eating meat what will happen to this waste veg? What about wheat that doesn’t make milling grade, barley with too much N for malting and holey beans that people won’t eat??
@jayrayner1 Gary Rhode’s books taught me a huge amount. His books are well bashed at my house and he’s personally responsible for our family’s excellent roast potatoes.
Today I went through @KitchenBee entire critique of the criticisms of the #EATLancet report. I could have retweeted every one of her points but instead could I encourage you to read the whole thread? angry tribalism about nutrition is pointless and thank god for proper Jounalism
Ever since the #EATLancet report on food appeared in January, I've been following the debate it has generated. In case you missed it, this report sought to answer the q of how to feed 10 billion people a healthy diet within 'planetary boundaries'. (Thread)

We should all eat more plants but bad science only adds feeds the false meat-only plant-only food wars. Here is an excellent critique from a vegan dietitian An Evidence-based Review of ‘The Game Changers’ – Dietetically Speaking https://t.co/KCte5okBJo #gamechangers
I often hear: “Climate change - heating & cooling periods are natural in Earth’s history”. That is true, but what is not normal (and man-made) is what happened to temps since the 50’s. BTW, it wasn’t the cows that caused warming, but fossil fuel use. https://t.co/xD7inP4oWY
Today is St Martin's Day which throughout Europe used to be an important festival, a kind of Thanksgiving involving many food rituals. In the fifteenth-century, on St Martin's Eve a figure called 'Sir Christmas' would hand out nuts and apples to good Flemish children.
Amazing news the @BBCFoodProg will continue to share food stories with the @BBCRadio4 audience. I’m sorry we haven’t been able to comment on this process. Our priority is to serve our listeners. Thank you @KitchenBee & all our followers for showing us the love xx back at you xxxx
@Robin_Mesnage from KCL working with us on key area of role of #pesticides in health and finds it alters our gut microbes. Twin studies ongoing .Most Glyphosate (Roundup) is only in UK used to facilitate harvesting so could easily be stopped. #LMM8
