Bicyclists' injuries and motorists' speeds in London, ON. When cars travel at 40km/h or more and hit a human, 100% are injured. At 60km/h or more, 1 in 4 will have serious and fatal injuries.
@LdnOntBikeCafe This means that I have lost my ability for reading, writing, math. Twitter socks that accessibility for someone with my disability who depends on the screen readers. But I really appreciate you posting this! xx
@LdnOntBikeCafe Aw, Ben. I had a hemorrhagic stroke in June, and was hospitalized for six weeks. The part of my brain that was damaged is the left angular gyrus, and it's responsible for reading, writing, math, ordering.
👀Look for these #LdnOnt cycling advocates as possible answers to our quiz: @rhbike, @LdnOntBikeCafe, @luis_patricio and @dhcycle, with lots more local trivia. We’ll post the link to play just after 4pm and you can play anytime before midnight.
We're (nearly certainly) going to be hiring in the next week or so. Seeking someone who can spend a *lot* of time riding a bike in all conditions (yes, you're going to get paid to ride), plus help manage our online services, too. No coding required... #LdnOntBike
When we slowly re-open our Main Streets, we are going to need initiatives like this one in London, UK, to maintain a physical distance. We don't want people to stay away b/c we haven't made it safe for them to show up. #ExtendingTheSidewalk is a critical initiative to begin now.
This is a map of #LdnOnt streets that have excess lane capacity. Space for physical distancing for pedestrians and cyclists could be created on any/all of these routes with zero impact on motorized traffic, or emergency services. Pylons + cargo bike + time = healthy network.
We're excited to learn @AndyFillmoreHFX is developing a national active transportation strategy! We need a coordinated effort & dedicated financial resources from the federal level to support AT in our communities & we believe a national strategy will achieve that. @Canada_Bikes
We've seen a surge in cycling since the beginning of March, with warmer temperatures and after recommendations from @NYCMayor and @nycHealthy regarding COVID-19. This week we've seen a 50+% increase in cycling on all East River Bridges (vs 2019).

Prime real estate (roads) should not be subsidized to prioritize the use of personal cars. Decongestion pricing is already underway in Victoria, which in 2019 eliminated free parking on Sundays. Low parking fees guarantee traffic congestion, it's inequitable & doesn't ↑ revenues
Politicians vote 12-2 to fund free parking program through operating surplus, rather than tax levy. (Hopkins, Turner opposed)
Main motion endorsed, 10-4. (Cassidy, Hopkins, Lehman, Turner opposed. Peloza away. All others in favour)
Cost: $600K from surplus, not taxpayers. #LdnOnt
@chrismccreery@lpsmediaoffice Same! 30km/h within 150m of schools! We have to keep advocating! This school also has a la Ribambelle for infants and goes up to grade 6. Kids are walking and biking to school beside cars speeding at 75km/h.
