@FAOemergencies @FAO @BethBechdol @FAONewYork @FAOGeneva @WFP @UNOCHA @FAOAfrica @FAOinNENA_EN @FAODG This work is deeply personal to me. Having seen how climate shocks can affect Filipino communities, we cannot wait for disasters to happen before we act.

For FAO, acting early means protecting livelihoods, giving dignity, and hope. 🇵🇭❤️

This month, UN agencies gathered at the UNGA exhibit in New York on #AnticipatoryAction.

Ahead of a strong El Niño, @FAO has the forecasts, systems & know-how to act before a crisis hits — protecting crops, livestock, assets, food security & livelihoods.

Addressing the double-shock scenario of fuel crisis and potential agricultural drought among farmers and fisherfolk is a priority. Finding medium to long term solutions is urgent now more than ever. @FAOemergencies #ResilientLivelihoods

[FAO Philippines @FAOPhilippines]

As fuel becomes the main source of cost shock for farmers and fishers due to the crisis in the Middle East, @FAOPhilippines highlights early adaptations on the ground that can be replicated in local communities. The policy brief 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗰𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗮𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 provides clear guidance on how farmers, fishers and the government can leverage current technologies and mechanisms to mitigate further impacts of the crisis.

The double shock scenario faced by the agriculture sector in the Philippiens requires short, medium and long interventions.

[FAO Philippines @FAOPhilippines]

"Higher fuel prices are likely to increase the cost of coping with climate stress itself, as interventions needed to sustain production under drought and extreme weather conditions.”

Still recovering from STS Kristine, two potential tropical storms are expected to enter the Philippines. Battered and bruised but not without hope. #FAOPH just activated its #Anticipatoryaction protocol for typhoon in Isabela, province.
